We know that whoever is to come in for wing/centre cover they'll have to be cheap and out of contract so hopefully someone like Hurst will be tempted. Can't see Will Sharp moving over from Featherstone if on decent money there.

Int in funny how folks try and belittle Kayes agent as far as I can see he's done a great job for his client,think he did the same thing for broughy didn't he win man of steel instead of trying to to put the agent down give him credit for doing in my opinion a great job for his clients

Good luck to Kaye at the lower division rugby but a decision has been made that we can't afford to offer him anymore money so we have to move on and get someone in who we can afford who shows potential and is desperate for a chance to play Super League on the wing for WTW. Hurst has played SL and went well in RLWC with some strong running. The agent did his job for Kaye.

Your quite right in what you say, agents are there to get the best deal possible and he may have done.

The reason behind many people disliking personal agents, and many calling for a centralised system is they are very harsh, I know of multiple cases of players in our system that have been approached by other clubs that they do not want to talk to all because there agent has been in contact trying to 'sort' a deal without there permission and even against there will - I know this first hand.

So yes while doing a lots of good work, looking at the bigger picture they probably deserve a lot of the stick they get.

That's why agents should be centralised. Remove the incentive for the agent and then the clients best interests will be paramount in all deals.

Agents like financial advisers are only intersted in how much of clients assets
they can pilfer.

Agents are 100% interested in only the cash side because they take their cut. It's also in their interest to unsettle players to get a transfer/upgrade.

I agreed with all of you a few months ago prior to becoming a part time agent, but I don't think anyone understands how much hard work goes into being one, players are very demanding and you certainly do earn your money as an agent.

I can only speak for our agency but if anything its better if your player is settled and happy, trying to get players sorted elsewhere is bloody hard work and stressful. If our lads are happy where they are we advise them to stay.

We look at the best rugby/career offer for our client and not just necessarily the highest bidder. Perfect examples would be Taylor Welch & Mark Offerdahl.

Most agents that I have heard of and seen are much of what has been described in this thread.

There are a few of us that are different though.

In my career I use recruitment agencies. They give me a much greater access to jobs than I would have had without them. I don't pay them the recruiting company does. (Though I guess they might give that money to me if they didn't have to pay)

I've seen good ones who have done a good interview with me before sending me to the company, and some that have no idea and just send a job advert.

A good player agent should act like a manager, not a middle man.

Funny that I too am having to use recuitment agencies and haven't found a decent one yet, not only do they try to get you to work for peanuts they also insult you saying that it's the going rate, there a few that have more knowledge about my skill but most employers are now getting their work force to work for less than they did some yrs.
