| I really think the club/trust are missing a trick in all of this. Too many people, mainly fans, are focusing only on the loss of a stadium which fails to acknowledge the wider reason so many people signed up in support of the NM development; the community facilities. That's the key, all the pitches etc that we're going to be built for the community. That's where you get the support, not a stadium, which if we're being honest can not and was not ever going to be a truly "community stadium". The same can be said of Castleford attempts to market their development as "community"; its nonsense (though I accept the Cas one is/was even less of a community facility. If there can be such a thing)!

That being the case then and assuming your right then the land belongs to WMDC, would you then be in a position to dictate whether or not and for how long we could stay in the ground, just a thought.

I'm curious, in what respect would the land belong to WMDC?

It doesn't.
The land has been sold to Lateral with a contract in place to say that as soon as the stadium is built, it will be transferred to CTRLFC freehold and we will own the stadium.

| Quote ="Sacred Cow"Personally i always thought that was the best course of action as i've never liked the Newmarket location but i'm pretty sure we've tried heading down that path and ultimately found a dead end there as well. I get the feeling all the trust and hope has gone between not only the council and Yorkcourt but also now 88m.
Quoting MC again in league weekly today he says ' We have given notice to quit and that has been aknowledged and accepted. Whatever happens to Belle Vue i've no idea. It's nothing really to do with us.' He also says when asked if there is any chance the decision could be reversed before the end of the season 'Not in my eyes', and is fed up of 'people making promises that are not kept'. if he could turn back the clock 6 months he would have gone to Dewsbury. He certainly comes accross as sick to the back teeth of it all and it is 'debatable' whether they'll ever be a route back into Wakefield. He is certainly cranking up the pressure and maybe it is a last hope that it spurs the powers that be into action but i also feel he has just thought enough is enough, to hell with you we are off. =#FF0000And i wouldn't be surprised if the first thing 88m do once we move out and taken what is ours is look to flatten the place. Sad times.'" I hope I get prior warning

I neither know nor care who it belongs to as it goes, it looks like I've wrongly assumed that atm it was council land, I merely raised the point against our friend from across the common as to what their contribution to the stadium was with regards to their position allowing us to use their stadium in the sad event of it becoming a reality hth.

| Has anyone actually approached Featherstone as a possibility? It's a grand little ground and would appear somewhat superior to Dewsbury's in my humble opinion.
Liked MC's wry comment in today's League Weekly thus: "Some certain people don't give a s*** about Wakefield Trinity" (or words very much to that effect. I wonder who he was referring to.

That's more like it, I'd share with Rovers for a while without hesitation.

It's a real shame a genuine Trinity supporter (individual/organisation) did not buy the Belle Vue Ground when there was the opportunity last year....
Not sure about the complexities of Community Crowd funding to modernise the ground into a Community Stadium with genuine community facilities if privately owned etc (but that maybe could have been overcome then not now of course) .....
www.crowdfunder.co.uk/bigbathcitybid/
Featherstone or Dewsbury would be better than Cas for me..

I think that also in the article MC states that apart from the Dewsbury option he is looking at another and that it is not in the WMDC area. Not very good news if that's the case.

| I have very little interest in where the team goes, i probably won't follow them. I live in walking distance of Belle Vue and refuse to drive to home games as well as away games. Good luck to the club, but without a longterm future in the city, then I won't be following them

I follow my local team, as I have done for the past 20+ years. If I wanted to drive to every game I would have followed a successful team.

To be fair, he has the kernel of a point!
I moved away from Wakefield in 95, and although we then moved to Australia in 08, my desire to return to, watch and support Trinity was and is, based in its community roots... the memories of my youth and early adulthood in and around the place of my birth. To disconnect the team from the environment is risky, at best;
My head says ....I would be really interested in seeing the balanced risk analysis of the club's current decision making.
My heart says... that I for one would prefer to have a lower league Trinity based in the city, than a remote super league franchise carrying the memory of my club's name.

The Club were going to put a bid in for Belle Vue but were dissuaded from so doing because the Trust were told that Yorkcourt were going to buy it and the Clubs interest would only force the price up.
Yorkcourt even informed us that they had a contract to purchase Belle Vue in their hand.
We all are aware of what actually happened.

It's about half a mile extra to Newmarket than my current walk so I'd probably walk it. It's much further to Cas, Dewsbury, and Fev so I wouldn't be walking to them. I imagine if we do groundshare then almost every game will be scheduled for a Thurs/Fri night to allow the pitch a couple of days recovery as a minimum before the owners play their game.

Exactly, I'd follow the team even if they were in Champ 1 so long as they were playing in the city. It's a Wakefield team and I'm from Wakefield. I wish the team every success wherever they end up, but if it's not Wakefield then I won't be there
