Well some, I'm sorry to say, and one in particular!



We were not good to start with, and we lost momentum when Korki and Stos went off, but there was one guy out there who's job it was to control our game and he got it all wrong - almost everything!

Dinks through the line on the last tackle - instead of putting it deep; Mis-timed passes and missed tackles - all down to the most experienced and, most likely, the highest paid player in our side.

Where Catalans succeeded was to have a MASSIVE pack, which was in great form, but on the back of that they had a good kicking game and great control. We, unfortunately, did not have that control - and I would agree with other posters elsewhere that when JK took Sam off instead he made a mistake.

Don't get me wrong, I know players cannot be 100% all of the time and ALL of our players have contributed to a fine season, but in big games you need big players to shine - and at least one of ours did not!

Most were very poor last night.

Am I correct in thinking out of the four quarters in the game we only lost the 2nd quarter. We seemed to panic at 4 2 down. Playing off the cuff football Atkins kicking on the 3rd. Going forward their big forwards got a roll on in that 2nd quarter and so big the points gap left us too much to catch up. We put in a massive effort in the second half so well done lads. Catalan will cause problems for many teams with a pack as big as that.

No not at all - and whether the 2 are linked is entirely down to speculation, but I for one would think that after being through what they have together they would ALL have wanted to go better than they did. But it just didn't happen.

Spot on TRB and not for the first time....remember the semi final last year? the same thing happened then. Two big games and two really poor performances from him!

I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be out night from the first play when JD bombed the guilt edge chance to put Murphy away.

For the life of me I don’t understand that 1st half performance, yes, Drew had a stinker, but he wasn’t alone. I’m sick of hearing the JK cup king rhetoric, because, in out last 3 ‘cup’ matches, the team has imploded for whatever reason.

Yes, it’s been a good season, yes, we’ve finished higher then even the most parochial fans would have thought, but, it still hurts to go out in such an ignominious way.

It’s interesting to see that both Leeds & St’s are nearly at full strength, come the playoffs, whilst other clubs, including ourselves, are missing key players. The loss of Brough was a huge blow, but, to a lesser extent Martin, Gleeson & Bibey’s absence has taken its toll.

I’m really proud to be a Wakefield fan right now, but, as always the cupboard’s bare.

Definitely missed Bibey and his solid yards and quick PTB. Could've really used that.

Drew was poor as has been said, it just didn't work out for him.

JD's passing was inferior to Atkins' last night...! Murphy got no service and we lost valuable position time and time again. I wouldn't mind saying that Martin would have sured us up more, but it wasn't to be.

I do come on here regularly and generally find trb aligns with the club and very rarely criticises the players hence the question is the criticism now happening because someone is leaving.

They were all poor IMO apart from maybe George and Moore. Jd was very bad for example.

I guess some of it is frustration - after seeing what he can do at Warrington, where he ran the show to perfection.

JD didn't do himself justice last night unfortunately and, although he's not the playmaker, his example as captain could have been better - but I guess with all of these we should credit the Catalans defence - they didn't allow us time to play!

the two big guns that failed to fire were Brad Drew and the people of Wakefield!

but at least one of the two turned up.

I'll probably get shot down for this and no doubt Con will come on here and put me right. I have thought for quite a few weeks now that JD is in his last season. He has been great for the club and I will always have fond memories of him. I would prefer it if he went out on top rather than see a player struggle through one season too many.

PS same for Drew, don't know what Huddersfield think but they won't get the same player back that left them 2 yrs ago

You can't just single Drew out last nite. He has been great for us this season. Scott Grix was poor last nite. They were just 2 big in the forwards department and the bull Sh*t penalty at the ko probably cost us the game as it was too much to get back from.

Not defending the next set was more costly, I daresay.

Their defence was oustanding last night, with ball in hand they were two or three yards faster, our playmakers didn't have the ability or the guile to break their defence.

Good season beaten by a better side on the night i love going to Perpignan and their fans both over there and here last night are brilliant and i would love them to go on and do well in the play offs but unfortunately there is only one winner.

Roll on next season.

IMO the fact that a large number of players are leaving this season, had a negative effect on us last night.
You could see who cared and who didn't. Seeing Drew at the end of the game laughing and joking with the Catalans players after playing a shocker left a bitter taste in the mouth for me. Korki along with JD who always play with passion for our club were on their knees in disappointment, along with most of us fans in the stands im sure. Just my opinion but just got me a little mad last night!

He was very poor last night, he didn't control the game like I thought he would. When we needed a steady head on the field, he lost his and tried some special plays when we would be better served punting down field.

But, on the other side, he has had some awesome games this season that put us in this position, our highest in SL. Infact, he has won a fair few games for us on his own!

Despite last nights performance, prob the best hooker i've personally seen play for Wakefield.

watched the game this morning one thing that i noticed before kick off was the bench it looked light weight with just the one prop Catalan are a big outfit was Bibb dropped is Bibey injured or as he left the club for Leigh

Bibey is/was out for the season with a shoulder injury

The pressure Catalans managed to put on our half backs and hooker forced us to do uncharisctic errors, also the way the ref let both teams lie on (although catalan realised this and stayed there for an age..) causes fatigue. Only when Richie Moore came on and started blasting holes in the defence did we get a quick play the ball, then he himself tried some impossible offloads. The ref wasnt good imo but you have to learn to live with what he gives you and work with it, our 'smart' players last night werent quick enough to latch onto the type of game it was and by the time they did it was too late... On another subject Catalans use the fullback in the scrum at loose forward and we had the fastest player on the park on the wing with 60 or 70 metres to work with, did we try a kick downfield from the scrum?? no...

To me it looked like the occasion got to the players who were making silly exited plays usually resulting in coughing up the ball. Always trying silly offloads in early tackle count etc.

Kear looked well. Nervous throughout.

Drew seemed to go quiet after his knock.

If we had played like we have most of season we would have stuffed them IMO. Real shame but it seems the Wakey way.

Ah well don't have to worry about playoff fixtures clashing with the personal life anymore.
