I am a bit concerned about this 'silly season' time of year when new announcements are leaked/released about players contractual arrangements for next season.

It is very distracting when there are still matches to play - important games for our club, and the support is split between waving people off, flicking them the V's, slagging them off or whatever.

Then there is the 'Did we offer them a deal?', 'How much have they paid?', 'Who is in contract, who is coming in, why are we leaving it late, etc..?'.

I think there should be an arrangement with all clubs that while they are still in competition, they should not be allowed to make any announcements about the next season.

With Atkins signing for Wire, Grix going to Hudds, etc.. They should both be concentrating 100% on beating Rovers and having their best ever crack at the play offs for Wakefield who are paying them NOW. There is no inference that they will deliberately play under their standard, but the distractions are going to take an edge of their performances naturally.

they would be concerned about their future whether it was discussed by us or not. So whether these things are leaked/announced is probably irrelevant, other than the stick/praise they may get from the fans.

it is probably better that it is sorted now so that they can concentrate at the task at hand, which i am sure they are.
