I know there's a lot of political voting but the reason we finished last was because our song was complete and utter garbage.

Given the huge depth of musical talent in this country we should be able to do better than that.

If we ever took it seriously and put a more established act in we'd do a hell of a lot better.

Stealth Comic, we could have got him to sing Bohemian Rhapsady ( if thats how you spell it) and we still would have finished last.

its all to do with politics nothing to do to with the music anymore, well apart from maybe the ones that finish 1st and 2nd every year

I disagree, last year we finished 5th with a lass who's now in the Sugababes singing and, like him or not, an out an out legend writing it.

The Germans showed us the way to win it. Put a decent song together (albeit with a weak vocal), release it across Europe before the comp (I believe it was number 1 in 20 countries or something daft) and watch the votes roll in.

This year we got a guy who knew how to make cheesy pop hits 25 years ago and failed miserably with his last project (One True Voice anyone?). Enough said really.

It got 10 more points than it deserved and 4 of them were from the only country we share a land border with.

A top class contempary British act with a bit of an edge to them, Muse, Little Boots or Florence and the Machine would walk it.

You're missing the point, Stealth; it isn't really about who has the best music industry - we know, and the rest of Europe knows, that that's the UK - it's about cheesey crap and a bit of harmless flag-waving. Putting in a decent UK band would be totally against the spirit of the thing, a win-at-all-costs strategy that would spoil it for everyone.
Let's leave that kind of attitude for the Jerries, eh?

To be honest I do not give a toss, but its entertaining simply because of the comments and mickey taking this year by Graham Norton.

No matter who we had or whatever the song its all too political, we should accept it for what it is and that is light entertainment.

Fair do's Mick but nothing with a made in the UK sticker on it should ever be that bad.

Whatever happened to national pride?

Have we really resorted to using large global events to take the you know what out of ourselves?
