I think tonight despite the final score which flattered Halifax in my view the lads deserve a lot of credit.

I hope it came acroos on tv too, what was pleasing was our never say die attitude and this was epitomised by Danny Jones getting man of match award by tv panel.

Have to say some not all Fax fans were quite nasty people and deluded maybe there was free tickets for the redenecks

Fair played to Halifax, they were a little too good for us tonight.

I don't think the score reflected the balance of play and Shickell's try was pure class.

Keighley played well-easily the better of the two sides. Sadly for you, you did not take the chances that came and also you tired the 20-understandable. You deserved easily a bonus point. Well done Keighley and keep the fight going. Even if you do get relegated, you have a team to be proud of.

I can't believe on a performance like that you didn't come away with a bonus point. Outclassed us for a few lengthy periods of the game, and we couldn't even get out our own half without penalties untill late on in the game. Well done Keighley, hope you carry on playing that way the rest of the season. Miles better than that shower Toulouse brought over to play us

Very good performance, we've come a long way in a short time.

That said, we need to keep improving.

Silly penalties need stopping
Losing possession in bad areas
The right hand side. I agree with Rach. When Belcher (who looked excellent before his injury) is fit, I would have him back at fullback and Raynor on the wing.
Kicking game: needs improving a lot. We try to score too often off every set. Use the in goal grubber more and get repeat sets.

On a brighter note, despite the fax result, when you look at the tables something is obvious.

Having said that most of their field position came mostly through penalties, 2 touchdowns looked forward (as well as one of ours) and Shick looked infront of the kicker from where I was stood. However, I'll hold my hands up and admit I'm wrong if anyone's watched it back on TV yet?

Only difference we switch off at crucial parts of the game, when we scored and then they scored straight away. Apart from that, cant really fault the lads. For sure more points will come our way through the season.

Some Fax fans were very complimentry of our effort.

With a bit more self discipline and ball control the result would have been a lot closer. We deserved at least a point.

I noticed on the fax board that they are all complaining about us laying on, all I can say is that we played to the refs instructions - other sides including stupid league do it so until there is a change in approach by the refs, sides will continue with this tactic (although I personally think refs are allowing too long and are inconsistent in application).

On the other hand Fax were very rarely stood square - IMO that is as annoying as laying on and slows the game as much.

Fax looked very good when they started to throw the ball around and although they have some class in their squad, I can't help thinking that they will need to tighten their defence against the top sides.

We still have a way to go yet but at least we are improving. We have a smaller squad than fax, we also have men out and have played 3 games in 6 days, yet we had them on the rack for significant parts of the game.

I watched the match on telly when I got back and loved the comment about Mossy's brilliant touch line tackle - "he only looks about 14, a baby faced assasin"

keighley played well overall, but the laying on bit was odd as only time ref gave penalty for it he spoke to captain. so he must have let lots go.
fax have injuries too with a few out plus also played 3 games in six days. was same for both teams.

The laying-on is going to cost us if it becomes a bad habit. One of the commentators on the telly commented on it - they know they're doing it, because Jones was watching the ref at the same time. All about the timing, I suppose, but I wouldn't want the Cougars becoming known for gamesmanship.

I thought your lads played really well, and if they can perform like that every week then the great escape could be on - and I for one really hope you pull it off. You deseved a bonus point at least.

I always enjoy the trips to Cougar Park - even when Rach cheats us out of winning the 2nd Stevo Testimonial Quiz (couldn't have Fax fans winning both eh Rach?)

I don't think our laying on was any worse than say Melbourne Storm's against the Whinos in the World Club game.

Laying on and slowing it down until the ref shouts move, is just professionalism IMO.

The officials are just giving defences a little more time than in the past.

It was the same for both sides.

I dont care what we become known for. As long as we stop up.

The last thing we need are opposition coaches in the press putting pressure on officials before games because they think we're getting away with too much, cheating, bending the rules, gamesmanship, or whatever they want to call it.

Referees are incompetent enough, we don't need them looking for the slightest excuse to blow the whistle on us.

We're not at that stage yet, we play to the referee's instructions which is what i'd call professionalism.

My comments were made having read the posts on the Fax board where several fans are putting your performance down to the above, without giving recognition that keighley were in fact in the same position.
