Right after stewing on this most of day I have to say I see no benefit to anyone by any official role. The article today in league weekly Neil refers to being involved at keighley for 40 years, the fact we have entered administration under Neils stewardship so to me any positive things have been ruined. In addition to this the players are starting with one hand tied behind their backs in respect of points deduction which I find unforgivable and unacceptable. Is there a fan that sees owt good in any return. Like Stealth says on another topic Neil should not be allowed to return.

There's been alot of discussion in our house about this, and weather he is offered only the cleaning job we will be boycotting all home matches in protest. My brother and his mates did it afew years ago but never missed an away game.

Anyone directly associated with the financial failure of a club should not be allowed to be involved in an official position within any club again as they have proven that they are not a fit and proper person.

That said he helped resurrect the club when it went out of business when the cougarmania bubble burst and if it wasn't for him we may well not have a team to watch today.

My message to Mr Spencer would be please walk away from the club. You are welcome to come back and support us on the terraces as any Keighley fan has my respect. But please please don't further tarnish the reputation of our great club by staying on the board. Whilst it may be difficult for you to do so, given your long association with the Cougars, we need to move on, start with a clean slate, and move Keighley Cougars in to a new, successful era.

I think Stealth put it across far better than I did. Cougarbar member re did he get us in the mess, all I will say is the ultimate responsibility is that of the chairman in any organisation and to me this is what its about. Like a few fans were saying the other day we go to watch and support the players that wear the cougars shirt and to be honest it would not matter to me if the chairman is called Spencer or Elton John its what happens to the club I have watched home and away for over 40 years, players and chairmen come and go but Keighley continue in whatever guise thankfully.

Neil obviously has a great passion for Rugby league in Keighley but his attitude and approach has not always endeared himself with the fans on the terrace.

I don't know the full facts behind the recent administration but this is the second time now that Neil has been involved in a siutuation like this.

My personal view is that for the good of the club and himself he should call it a day.

to rephrase cougarbar members question, who was responsible for the finances when the dirt hit the fan, i was under the impression that the chief executive would have that responsibilty?? so maybe we are looking in the wrong direction for a scapegoat??

Forwardpass not quite sure whom you are referring to but for arguments sake Neil is absolving himself of any blame then name who you think it is. Remember the tax amount of £183k has occured in the period since 2001 -2009 who was the man at the top, clearly Neil.

My issues are not with Neil the person but purely as the chairman at the time who was ultimately responsible for the club, its not rocket science.

Responsibility has to be taken for the mess, however the new board appear to have a strategy that on the face of it seems good, already they are more welcoming of fans input and ideas whereas previously this was quite the opposite.

Neil is more than welcome to join the speccies but not hopefully having an official role as this will be detrimental to the fans and the club generally. Is time to walk away graciously in my opinion.

Girl power, i do not know who I am refering to either, by name that is, but there are people in all kinds of organisations who have chairmen, cheif execs and all kinds of other roles within them, each have a role to play. all i am asking is are you sure the right person has been sentenced to death? don't ask me I don't know, all i am doing is, asking the question, because there are people on here who seem to be in the know but are not telling.

The board, including the chairman, is to blame.

They saved the club didn't they? Therefore they knew the liabilities they were taking on, and they increased the liabilities seemingly.

The buck stops with them.

Will the former Chairman in his new role with the club (subject to a RFL nod) benifit from personal drawings (pay) in the new shake up?
