It would appear thus far reading the posts that it is a shareholder problem, that being said lets for arguments sake they go into administration then this leaves open apart from the points deduction could the team directly below them in the season just finished have a case for reinstatement.

I wouldn't have thought so as the season has already finished. How ever minus nine points for the beginning of next season would appear to be in order if we are to treat everyone the same ie Widnes,Rochdale and Doncaster. This may go out of the window as we are talking expansion teams here and anything goes.

After 10 years i'd hardly call them an expansion team anymore.

The development club status they have had for 10 years is a joke and despite what Gateshead say they are still overloaded with overseas players and until they are told there is a time limit there is no real incentive for them to promote uk or local talent.

Are you suggesting that there will be fewer games and therefore less income ?

If they do get demoted then we [icould[/i have one less home game. So yes there will be less money.

But you said "a great deal of money" - was that just an exaggeration?

With the amount of home games we have next year. I would say to lose the income from a home game, would leave a big whole in the finances for the year.
We will have a bigger outgoing of money than last year, so every penny will count.

It could also be beneficial for us.

Should Leigh be reinstated they'd bring an awful lot more fans than Gateshead.

What's more annoying is that despite a salary cap being in place clubs are still running into trouble.

The RFL should start to audit clubs more closely and look to deduct points from clubs who are clearly living beyond their means.

I'd like to see the practice of directors putting money in as loans banned too. It put those clubs at an unfair advantage, and in Gateshead's case vulnerable to them being called in at any time.

It's a real shame that mistakes being made by clubs in the past (us, Rochdale, Doncaster etc) are still happening.
