| Councillor Glen Miller, who is chair of Bradford Council’s Keighley Area Committee, has congratulated Keighley Cougars on their victory over Oldham in the Co-operative Championship One Grand Final.
And Cllr. Miller joined Cougars Head Coach Barry Eaton and one of the club’s Grand Final hero players prop forward Brendon Rawlins when they went to show off the trophy to a group of pupils at Keighley’s Oakbank High School.
Councillor Miller said: “Keighley’s achievement reflects well on the town and their promotion, together with the delivery of their Young People’s and sport development programmes, ensures that they remain at the forefront of town’s life.
“The Keighley Area Committee has been working with the Cougars Community Foundation and the club for many years and, as their partners in so many worthwhile projects, it’s wonderful to see playing success return to Cougar Park.
“And it was very pleasing that the Cougars took the trophy to Oakbank High School because that engages with a very important section of the community and one of the Cougars’ most important partners in introducing young people to the sport of Rugby League”.
Helen Carter, the Cougars’ General Manager, said: “The Cougars very much appreciate Cllr. Miller and the Keighley Area Committee’s congratulations on our Grand Final achievement.
“Bradford Council are key partners for the Cougars and we believe that winning against Oldham was in part a reward for the Council who have been so helpful to the club in the past”.
