| Ross Taylor has ruined the figures of some pretty good bowlers. Destructive stuff, but only as he was given two lives on 0 by Granite Hands Akmal.

| Quote ="John_D"If Broad's injury is bad enough to rule him out, I'd hope for Rashid. Incidentally, I was only-half joking when I wrote [url=http://cricket-balls.blogspot.com/2011/03/open-and-shut-case.htmlthis[/url'"
Broad is now out of the rest of the tournament according to the breaking news scrolling scross the bottom of the BBC News 24 screen. I've lost track of who is actually in the squad already or who is merely on standby. I'd have thought Chris Tremlett would be in line to replace Broad, as he did during the Ashes.
Incidentally, it shouldn't be necessary to "repeatedly" slam Luke Wrights arm; in "Escape to Victory" Michael Caine promised Kevin O'Callaghan "a good clean break, son", which was duly administered with a single blow. (Although admittedly Wright may have stronger arms than O'Callaghan and perhaps Flower & Strauss aren't so adept at administering a relatively painless and repairable injury.)
Yardy & Tredwell (plus Wright) in the same fifteen man squad for a six week tournament looks like an overabundance of "bits-and-pieces" players none of whom is a likely matchwinner with either suit. Rashid is a better all-rounder than any of them IMO.
Continuting the "Escape to Victory " theme, let us not forget Mike Summerbee's confidence that "we can still win this game" when trailing by three goals at half time.

Indeed, and has been confirmed

Even if it went first time with a good, clean break, I'd keep slamming it on Wright's arm, just to make sure he never gets called up again. What is he for?

That's a fair point.

Perhaps he can stick the ball in the top corner with a bicycle kick in fewer takes than Pele?

| So what is the deal with England? Do we just expect to turn up against the lesser nations and win automatically. Holland ran us close, Ireland beat us and now we are on the brink against Bangladesh.

| In comparison to drawing with India and beating South Africa. There's definitely some sort of complacency.

Beat West Indies - through. Even if not, we can limp through if the Dutch beat Bangladesh, but qualifying for the quarters is no reason for celebration as the whole tournament is designed to ensure the top 8 sides go through.

| If Pakistan had Englands results in this world cup everybody would be asking questions we're not good enough to win this so maybe it would be better to get knocked out now and give the players a rest after the long winter they've had.

Call me old fashioned, but I'll take a couple of soon-to-be-forgotten defeats in a World Cup in exchange for humiliating the Aussies in their own backyard.

You are kidding of course?

I think the importance of proving Darwins theory should always be at the forefront of any right minded individual.

Absolbloodylutely!! Proper students of the game will take test match victories, especially Ashes test matches, and especially in Australia over all other forms of the game. The shorter versions where created as an after thought to provoke interest from those that do not understand the original format
What's more - Bob Willis = prophet of doom = *anker

What was that?....
Worst batting display I have ever seen, they should have got 400 easily and, instead, didn't even make 300 .....They are very close to a 1 man team and as I have said before, they will NOT win this competition, even if the South Africans fail to win this match.

| 9 wickets for how many? About 30. Pathetic. This will test even South Africa's choking ability.
Just seen Prior's dismissal from yesterday. The gormless goon
