| Lee Beard been shown the door by the Hatton's then?
Funny how the report I've read says that he is going to live in the States and that's the reason for the split, but the horses mouth tells a different tale?
Fast losing respect for Ricky and his team...

| Mayweather-Mosley confirmed for may 1st!
I don't know about anyone else, but I think this will be a better fight than Pac-Mayweather. Both have agreed to blood tests too. Big respect for both men for making this happen!
DeGale vs Groaves on the Haye-Ruiz undercard?? Hope so, and I hope Groaves leathers him.

Fair play to Mayweather for taking on the fight and not ducking it like he usually does. It will be a tricky fight for him, Mosley hits hard and has fast hands. He's nearly 40 though and not as quick as he once was. Still, apart from Pac Man and Paul Willianms, it's the best fight Mayweather could've taken.
As for Degale, I read somewhere that him or his team aren't interested in the fight yet.

Me too. I really hoped he was going to slope off into promoting now.
FWIW Hatton is my favourite boxer ever. I grew up throughout his career and have watched pretty much every fight of his since he came onto the undercards on sky. He never was the best boxer but was the best boxer to watch on a consistent basis.
I don't know whether it's a result of taking so many punches throughout his career, but the 'people champion' stuff seems to have gone right to his head. He's started referring to himself in the 3rd person, and my views on people doing that are similar to Chris Hoy's.
The Hi-Ho Ricky Hatton song is f**king embarrasing, can't believe he shunted Blue Moon for that self serving tripe. The point of being the 'peoples champion' is that you do not have to tell everyone that you are in every interview and even with your own entrance walk song.
Apologies for the rant, am I being too harsh?

P.S.
Hoy meets some Scottish journalists. One puts it to him that: 'In the last 24 hours everyone has been offering an opinion on Chris Hoy. But what does Chris Hoy think of Chris Hoy?'
Hoy doesn't miss a beat: 'Chris Hoy thinks that the day Chris Hoy refers to Chris Hoy in the third person is the day that Chris Hoy disappears up his own ar$e.'

| Well I've been to the States 4 times to watch Ricky box, I've met him and spoke to him a few times aswell as his Dad, his brother and many of his good friends. That was all quite a few years ago...
Agree with most of what you say Matt, never, ever the most naturally gifted boxer, but the heart of a Lion and someone who always promised to entertain his audience, he was the people's champion and grew a huge army of following through giving the punters value for money.
Hitting the real big time when beating Kostya Tsyzu. For that fight I paid £83 for my ticket which was quite a distance from the ring, but was worth every penny as it was a fantastic night and one I'll never forget. At the peak I paid £385 for my ticket for the Mayweather fight and was probably as far away from the ring as any other person in the MGM that night.
Along the way I've been sucked into going to many an after fight party at a ridiculous cost. The ones where he was just beginning to hit the big time were excellent, but once he arrived on the big stage and all the 'hangers on' were there it became a joke.
Too much money and too much greed along the way has spoiled things a bit for me, poor treatment of good people, the likes of Graham, Kayes, Beard, Hobson etc... and stories in the press that aren't true have also changed my thoughts.
If Ricky really was still the people's champion the 'homecoming' fight against the poor Juan Lazcano would have been a lot cheaper than £100 for an average seat. If he was coming home to thank his fans and not out to make more money then it would have been far cheaper.
I still live in hope that he won't fight again and still retain a little bit of dignity before he loses more than that with another pointless fight...

| Pretty much sums up my thoughts nicely UTC.
Hate that Ricky Hatton song!
For an example of how Hatton should come to the ring check out his entrance vs Castillo on one of the more popular video streaming sights. It starts with the Winston Churchill fight them on the beaches speech, straight into Blue Moon. I'm far from a Man City fan but that is real shivers down the spine.

I think both will win, but neither fight will be easy especielly in Cleverley's case, its a big step up.
Marquez has backed out of his Fight with Khan on 15th May. Khan is now looking into a fight with Maidana. Maidana should've been his next fight anyway, he's earned his shot.

Cleverley was outstanding.....hopefully he will take on the World before long. Only boxer I would prefer to see lift a world title is Rendell Munroe as both seem totally genuine and down to earth and both deserve all the success that comes their way.

| Fair play to Manny, he doesn't believe in doing anything by halves. But taking on a guy like Clottey when you're negotiating what will be a career-defining fight against Mayweather is risky, risky business.
Clottey is a phucking ENORMOUS fighter who could well enter the ring at somewhere near 160 pounds! He's tough as nails as well as majorly ed over the debatable loss to Cotto (a fight I thought he won). Unlike Cotto he's not shot and unlike Cotto he's got a brick for a chin.
Manny retains the advantage, but this could well be one gamble too far. Throughout history some of the greatest fighters have discovered to their cost that you can't keep taking on bigger and bigger opponents without running into someone who is just TOO big. Think Marquez and Mayweather, or Cotto and Margarito. Even if Clottey isn't that man, in defeat - he could well take just that bit too much out of Manny precisely when he must be at his sharpest (for Mayweather - provided he sees off the not-insignificant challenge of Sugar).

| Clottey is a tough fighter, but he isn't in the same class of Pacquaio. He isn't particularly quick and he isn't the type of fighter to throw big bombs constantly. He's a nice, tidy fighter that will be tough to breakdown, but Manny should be too good for this fella.

| If Clottey's motivated he can take Manny into very deep water. Against Cotto he thought he'd won (*I* thought he'd won) and eased up. He won't make that mistake again. Manny must get him out of there early or he could have a war on his hands. You don't want to be taking these big guys on for twelve rounds. Even in victory they can leave a lasting impression. At the end of the day - and no matter how well he's carrying the weight - Pac is still a blown up little guy, whereas Clottey won't be far short of being a NATURAL SMW when he enters the ring.
Where I give Pac enormous credit is in FORCING Mayweather to front up against a genuine super-/welterweight. Something the boxing community has been crying out for for years. Floyd is no longer top dog on results and given his current relationship with the IRS he has to try and match him. There's an argument that Sugar is a bigger threat to Floyd than Manny as he isn't as open to the counter and he has the aggression to take the fight to Floyd for twelve rounds. That said, four out of five of his defeats have come against genuine boxers. Shane likes fighters who come at him - preferably Mexicans. But Floyd aint going anywhere near THAT.

| Hatton's problem is there is no-one out there BIG enough to fight him who he can beat.
Mayweather - would be another slaughter.
Pac - almost killed him last fight.
Mosley - Hatton is made for him.
Marquez - countered to death.
Cotto - even shot is too big.
Possibly Margarito to play the villain - but he's WAY too big, even without plastered hands.
Clottey, Berto, Bradley? None of them are NAMES and all of them are dangerous. The risk-reward ratio is too high.
He could, of course, take on a tomato can. But who wants to see that?
Ooops ... I forgot Khan. That WOULD be a huge fight - but even with Amir's dubious chin, those fast hands working to plan laid out by Roach, a guy who has Ricky's game figured out to the full stop?
