So frustrating when something like that happens, as you can't possibly predict or plan a race around something like that happening!

Depends who ya bet with, paddypower and boylesports refunding bets on Sariska and maybe others might follow suit?

Thought Barshiba's chance would increase with Sariska not starting, but maybe the pace was too quick and played right into the hands of the hold up horses.

Still think Midday would have beaten Sariska had she taken part because of the ground and the negative vibes from both Michael Bell and his travelling head lad talking about their chances of beating Midday...

Wouldn't have minded had Sariska got beaten fair and square, done money, fair enough. But in such circumstances even losing a tenner is gutting! She now joins my list of horses I won't back again!


The Oxx horse in the 4.05 looks a bit too short for me so keeping my money til Saturday.
Oh dear, poor Jamie is having a bad day.


Will avoid the Nunthorpe tomorrow, sprints aren't really my cup of tea betting-wise, always good to watch though.

Done Leigh -4pts @ 10/11 this evening.

Just got back from York... done a few quid in to be honest. Selected 2 or 3 a race in the morning on the way and backed them all accordingly.

First race backed the winner and the second, but didnt do the forecast on the two and it paid £16. But still a nice profit.

Lost badly on Maqaasid and saved with Rimth so no good there.

Then Ransom Notes race. Obviously I had that down as one to back. I fancied Acrostic as was told Fallon fancied it a few runs back, and had a tip this morning for Pertinant. So I had a tenner on all three at 9/1. Didnt even think to play the forescasts or even the tricasts, what happens, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I won £70 on the race but it could have been anything had I had the balls to do the f/c and t/c.

Downhill from there really, hammered Snow Fairy and saved with Sariska. Hammered Zarebiya which got pulled up. And didnt do much on the races off course either. Didnt stay for the last race and it saved me a few quid as I was going to back Hoof It.

Overall, a losing day but I enjoyed it. Ladies day meant there was totty galore and the weather was good. Managed to come home a little less lighter in the pocket but just backed Ryan Babel for the first goal in the Liverpool game which has saved grace a little bit. So a cheerfull end to the evening.

Onto tomorrow, read the cards in th evening paper on the train home and instantly was attracted to Rainbow Peak after its win last time, but the projected 3/1 is actually a more realistic 13/8 looking at Sporting Life. Looked to try and find something realistic to double it and really struggling. The remainder of the card looks difficult so I'll just be hammering Rainbow Peak instead !

Rainbow Peak is entered in the Group 1 Champion Stakes, interestingly.

Has Jarvis got it right, will he take this in his stride?

Can't believe that happened to Spencer in back to back races unreal.

Got Starspangledbanner tomorrow on @ 11/4 so am happy with that as that price is well gone.

If I was looking at the best shorter priced one to back today it would probably be the fav in the Nunthorpe, plum draw and looked a top sprinter last couple of times and will take some beating IMO.

Only done an ew lucky 15 today though and put it on yesterday cos I'm a bit pushed for time with goin to a wedding at the coast today and will miss the racing.

Im very interested in Desert Recluse at 18's in the first been running well under claimers at a variety of trips, I feel this could be his optimum and today he has Richard Hughes in the saddle; He has a bit to find on previous form but this former course winner may well find it at this trip under hughes. Whilst Trovare can get close too.

In the 2nd its a tough race so small stakes on Kings Gambit each way.

Dissapointed in the price of Palace Moon therefore ill take red jazz ew.

In the nunthorpe Equiano ew at 9/2 is an absolute steal big ish bet.

Waiting for info on the maiden, but at present I think Ollon is over priced at 12's

Plymouth Rock in the last ew.

Anyone thinking that Hull have too much of a start at +16 against Wire?

I'd expect Wire to win but the week before Wembley is notorious for "careful" performances. Hull seemingly have more to play for with 4th still up for grabs - I think Wire winning 17+ is is asking a lot.

Not a week to be 'filling your boots' on Wakefield i dont think. Could go either way this one.

Does the same apply to Leeds too then ? The week before Wembley, but they are getting well backed giving up 14.5 start on Betfair.

Improving horse which ran well in the Queens Vase at Ascot didn't seem to get the 2 miles so drop to 1m6f could do the trick, its high in the weights but didnt stop Corsica doing well in handicaps who it finished close behind at Ascot and has decent draw today.

York 2.15

Kings Gambit 9/2 W/O Rainbow Peak

Finished behind Rainbow Peak while getting weight 2 starts back so makes sense to do it without the hot fav, Gambit was unlucky not to win the John Smiths Cup just done by Wigmore Hall which even went to the stewards, Wigmore Hall was getting loads of weight with it being a handicap and it being 3yo but has since beat Chabal with ease and goes for Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park which boosts Gambits form.

I thought so but then again, a few people I've spoken to disagree, thinking Leeds will cover the spread. After all, Hull are stronger than Catalans.

IMO, Leeds have a strong 19 but will start to withdraw the key players if the game looks comfortable.

I'm extremely interested in Stan James' even money for Leeds to beat Warrington in 80 minutes next week. I know Peacok is out but for Wire to go in favourites really surprises me.

I also agree on Hull +16 looking a good bet.

Won pretty well when last in a handicap hurdle with this good claimer on board, was due to be ridden by McCoy in the Galway Plate but was lame, hopefully ready now for another crack at hurdles worry about the ground though as RP have it good-firm but ATR have it at good, in RP results from yesterday at Killarney it was yielding.
