Would be a couple of interesting acquisitions. Always liked Michael at that level, thought the step up to Villa was just too far out of his ability and seemed to knock him back a bit - not too dissimilar to Ade Panicbuyi I suppose in that respect.

True, not too concerned about his age as he was a late starter anyway. I'm glad we're looking at him rather than Beckett as he offers something a little different alongside Thorne.

Don't know much about Rory but he'll give us depth and more options in attack if nothing else.

Yeah - would have thought Colgan may have been looking at a slightly higher level given he's not far past his prime as a keeper at 34, but having played just once in the first team last season he's probably looking for somewhere he would be undisputed first choice.

Meh - nothing like a first choice side, opening game of pre-season against a side playing their third game in 8 days, an injury list meaning Jakes, the physio and Wethers got the last 15 minutes.

Hardly cause for major panic, but then again that's City's OMB users for you. I'm surprised there isn't a "McCall Out" campaign going yet.

As I said on there, (can't believe I'm actually registered!) the fact that Jakes and Wethers (and our physio!) were on the bench suggests that it was an exercise in match fitness rather than performance, which wasn't exactly rocket science to begin with. None of the players got through the 90 as they've obviously been worked hard in training and it's the first game.

That was too rational an explanation for them to handle though.

Well Paul McLaren is gods own gift to football now. But it's certainly calmed a few people down to say the least!

Shrewsbury are now seen as 7-1 favourites with some bookmakers to win League 2 and with a strikeforce of Grant Holt and Richard Walker you can see why.

Well if the rumours about us being interested in Anthony Elding are true then I'd be much more confident about our (Bradfords) chances of winning it. Leeds will probably need to drop the asking price though I reckon.

These games have been about putting miles in the legs ahead of the trip to Scotland IMO. Don't think any of them have been taken particularly seriously if you look at the team selections so far.

A brief report from my mate who's up there says we did OK in the first half, but faded away after changes were made in the second. Wetherall and Jacobs both came on again towards the end, which shows we are still not there in terms of playing numbers, and worryingly Paul McClaren was stretchered off.
