They soon went quiet when Bevan scored his first. Hardly heard them again after that apart from when Wigan fans taunted them with 'shall we sing a song for you' they then gave their usual blast of "oh when the...", do they literally only know one song?

I'm gonna stick up for them a little. One song, or not and even if they did shuffle off with their tail between their legs - how refreshing was it to see that stand in use?

The sport needs more of that. I've said it before - one song or not is better than no songs from the likes of Huddersfield etc.

Oh definitely, although I've just found out that a section of their supporters were heard chanting "Bevan French's mums dead". Scumbags.

I was in the away end last night and the only song about French was “Bevan’s going home”

I’ve seen it suggested in a couple of places but ultimately it’s an easy line for somebody to make up but by the same token, you are one person and it’s unlikely you’d be able to hear everything that was sang, in every section of the stand (much in the same way I couldn’t in the South Stand).

I’d love to think it’s rubbish but even if it’s not, it doesn’t tarnish the St Helens club, it just makes a few people look like fools. I’ve seen a few of them from St Helens at Wigan away games over the years, just like I’ve seen a few foolish Wiganers at your place.

It was all over Facebook this morning and a few other Wigan fans backed this claim up. Just cause 'you' didn't hear it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

There’s a couple of reasons why I didn’t think this happened (in my opinion)

Firstly how have Wigan fans heard the exact words when they weren’t even in the stand yet I was and only heard the “Bevans going home” part

Secondly I’m the first to admit that Saints have a minority of idiot fans especially away from home. It’s one reason why I don’t take my lad to Warrington A and the club have even condemned some of the actions on recent visits.

However the decent fans have made it known that they are outraged at their behaviour and I’m pretty sure that they would have done the same if those words had been sung.

The same fans have condemned posters on Red Vee who have mocked Newton and have asked for them to be banned so I just think that at least one fan would have brought this up.

Let's hope not. For all the pontificating on social media there has always been a begrudging respect between Wigan and Saints fans due to each clubs successes over the years.

Sadly I heard this. It wasn't in the stadium but as folk were waiting to cross the canal footbridge. It was a group of about 30 mainly young lads heading towards North Western. Shortly after they were kicking off amongst themselves! Not good but in context a small section of idiots.
