| Wigan announce new Principal Partner
2 February 2022
Wigan Warriors are delighted to announce a new major partnership with OpenExchange who are now the Club’s Official Principal Partner and will feature on the front of the 2022 playing shirts.
OpenExchange is a global provider of corporate video solutions. They enable vital daily communications for the financial services and professional investment industries, for public and private companies, through advanced video technologies, tools, and managed services. With offices in London, New York, Boston and Hong Kong, OpenExchange provides the most advanced video and virtual-meeting technologies for clients all around the world to help to solve their mission-critical communications challenges. Founded in 2011, the company has grown steadily as businesses across the globe have adopted virtual communications and have put their trust in OpenExchange.
Warriors Executive Director, Kris Radlinski, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with OpenExchange. Shaun Wane and I met CEO Mark Loehr for lunch in London and it was an inspiring meeting. For an American Executive to show such faith and promise in Wigan Warriors and in Rugby League should give the whole sport a boost.
“Mark has a vision of how he wants to grow Rugby League through OpenExchange.TV where we will create weekly content to be shown around the world.
“For many years, we have wanted a major presence in our capital city for Wigan Warriors and we hope this partnership will be the catalyst for many more opportunities.”
OpenExchange CEO, Mark Loehr, said: “OpenExchange is a global company deeply rooted in the UK, built on creating future leaders who are empowered to build innovative global solutions for our clients. Rugby League and specifically Wigan Warriors fans have an incomparable, unwavering loyalty and OpenExchange is excited to sponsor this adored club to highlight and connect the life lessons and community building happening on and off the pitch.”
Left to right: Ben Burnside – Head of Investor Relations at OpenExchange, Shaun Wane – Leadership and Management Director at Wigan Warriors, Mark Loehr – Chief Executive Officer at OpenExchange, Kris Radlinski – Executive Director at Wigan Warriors, Travis Macilwain – Director of International Accounting and Finance at OpenExchange.
The new partnership with OpenExchange follows on from the disappointing news that the previous Wigan main sponsor continued to face challenges from the impacts of the pandemic. The Club was able to act quickly and decisively to seal an excellent two-year partnership with OpenExchange of significant benefit to both parties.
Ian Lenagan, Wigan Warriors Chairman, said: “We are delighted to welcome OpenExchange to our commercial partnership family and look forward to building a long-lasting relationship together.”
NOTE: With the announcement of the new Principal Partner, fans are welcome to visit the Wigan Warriors Store at Robin Park Arena from Tuesday 8th February during store hours (9am-4pm Monday-Saturday) to have the OpenExchange logo printed on their shirts, free of charge. All replica shirts in store will now contain the OpenExchange logo.

| At least the new logo does not take up all the shirt and is a global company.

| It's a bit of a worry.
Things generally seem to be going quite well on most fronts.
When was the last time we thought that.
And before you all come back saying what about this and that, I said generally.
Well done Ian L.

Looks well on the away shirt but a bit naff on the home, Will all the shirts currently in stock have the sponsor printed on? Or just ones made going forward?

It says all shirts in the article, which is fair enough if that’s what open exchange demanded but it is a turnaround from them saying they were selling blank ones for the 150th anniversary.
Whatever needed to be done though, needed to be done and hopefully this will be a sponsor they can build a long term relationship with.

Not all clubs can be sponsored by discount shops and pawn brokers, some of us have to settle for international businesses.

Assuming this sniping is about St Helens, Cash Converters started in Australia, so this by definition makes them an international company. Whilst Home Bargains isn’t international (started in Liverpool in the 70’s), it does employ over 22,000 people as opposed to Wigans new main sponsor employing 24 according to their website.
But as demonstrated above, we can sugarcoat any of the sponsors but it’s a shame all round that nobody in SuperLeague is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, Tag Heuer, Sony or some such. We can’t even get Adidas or Nike to make our shirts!
Regardless of the above, Wigan have done a fantastic job getting a sponsorship this late in the day (8 days before the season starts) so well done.
Even as a rival fan, I want all SuperLeague teams to have money rolling in as the sport is on its knees financially after the last couple of years and SKY’s money cut.
