Was having a discussion about yesterday's win at work this morning.
I stated that 'in my opinion' the win was our biggest and most important win / highest honour since we won in Brisbane 23 years ago.

Some could argue that the Grand Final win against Saints in 2010 was a contender (it was a massive win against our arch-rivals ending our decade long barren spell and it got the ball rolling to more success).

I just think this takes us to another level. The future definitely looks bright over the next 5+ years.

It's a big one for sure. I personally didn't quite feel the elation that I do with a Grand Final win but I did feel immensely proud and just a sheer relief that we along with Wire have stopped the collective superleague rot.

As for the side itself, you do feel it's just the start presuming we can limit the damage that inevitable exits will cause. The side is still very young and I feel there's at least 20% improvement in the vast majority of the side. Lads like Burgess, Gildart, Williams and Sutton are only going to get better and the squad is packed full of leaders. The balance of the team in regards to ages is also very good.

As a club we're in a fantastic position to keep pushing on and it's exciting.

In context I think it's a huge win. Given the recent defeats, for the post part comprehensive defeats to Australian clubs for both ourselves and Warrington to win is excellent for the sport.

For me the best description is it's like 'the icing on the cake'.

I still think the Good Friday win in 2003 was the best win as NOBODY expected Wigan to win after nearly half the team was injured

The atmosphere of that game in the 2nd half will stay with me until i it the grave

Waney's position must now be close to unassailable. He's won everything in the UK that there is to win.

I suppose doubles, trebles etc are still to play for, but a chairman really can't ask much more of his head-coach.

Don't think the win as good as the Manly or Brisbane games but better than the Penrith match I think as the standing of the British game is/was at a low and I think Cronulla were favourites to win.

For me, the match definitely didn't have the same feeling or nervous anticipation of a Challenge Cup or Grand Final so although a great win, I can't equate it with the cups won last year or in 2013.

There are always new challenges. Look what McDermott has done with Leeds! I've still never seen us win any trophy twice in a row or two major trophies in a season.

I know this will be an unpopular opinion on here, but I honestly didn't really and don't really care about the latest WCC win.

I wasn't off my seat screaming at the tele as I would have been in a Grand Final or Challenge Cup Final.

It was a good game, and I'm happy that we won of course, but for one reason or another I didn't care that much. Maybe because deep down I know that it doesn't really matter. If you win the Grand Final then you're the best team in Super League. If you win the WCC, it doesn't really mean you're the best in the world.

I was, off my seat that is, but then again I was at the game.....

The tele comment was in regards to yesterday's game, as for pretty much any other game I'll be there at the stadium.

Each to their own, but I can't agree.

Granted, there are plenty of reasons why the game doesn't really compare with the Manly & especially Brisbane games, think most would see those as bigger achievements. Even so, this was the first time anyone under 35 can really appreciate us winning the WCC, personally I'd take it in front of winning at Wembley or OT for this season.

Forgot about that! The 2013 Challenge Cup didn't feel like a massive achievement to be honest given the teams we played. Obviously you can only beat what's put in front of you though.

There was a thread on here last week on exactly this subject. Now we've won it I want more success now. We definitely need to target the quadruple. We certainly have the squad for it.

If we keep the squad together (which I honestly can't see given the fantastic young talent in it) we should be aiming to win numerous trophies over the next few years. The potential as a group is quite staggering!

There's only about 4 or 5 players at their peaks already, a few are approaching them and then we're left with an unbelievably talented group of 21/22 year olds who are already fantastic but have room for huge improvements. That's all supplemented by more juniors under them who have bundles of potential.

Give it another year or two to develop and this squad will be our best ever in Superleague IMO.

I'm still awaiting words to this effect from Eddie Hemmings - the man who so frequently mentioned the 'golden generation' that was supposedly coming through at St Helens a few years ago - but to be fair, I rarely watch Sky's coverage these days, so I may have missed it.

I'd rank Brisbane and Manly as the club's greatest ever wins, but I'd probably put last year's GF win third, purely for the fact that we'd been totally written off and we did it with an injury ravaged team. Almost disbelief at OT at the final whistle of what we'd achieved. Sunday is definitely up there though, top 5 probably.

The championship final win at Maine Road in 1950 with eight tourists missing must still rank among our greatest victories.

2010 for me personally as I think in time (if not already) it will be recognised as the start of an era. It felt huge at the time too, don't think I've felt a win as good as that that since.

As pleased as I was on Sunday, and Sharks did give us a game, there is still that question mark in the background of how seriously the Aussies take the competition. .

I think this ranks behind the Brisbane and Manly wins but not by much. On the Total RL site only 1% of voters thought Wigan could win by more than 12 points so it was certainly unexpected. I see it as a fantastic vindication of Ian Lenegan and Shaun Wane's reign.

The squad looks capable of winning everything before them this season. I only see Wire capable of stopping us.

There could be some stunning battles with Wire this year. They will take a lot of confidence from that win (as we will) and their pack looks formidable when everyone is available. I'd take our backline by a wide margin but they could cut the room for our backs to move on the back of four good props and a really dangerous hooker.
