Just wondering what everyone's opinion is on this tackle?

I don't want to get into a mud sling about who has committed the worse tackles but it is the only way to highlight again the inconstancy withing the RFL Disciplinary.
This bloke Tony Suffolk received 10 games for this type of tackle last year. He does this again to a young lad trying to break into the first team and only gets 5 games? Compare it to the 8 game ban Rangi Chase got (was it last season) for attacking the lower leg it does seem a bit pitiful.

That is really terrible. Much worse than Chase (and that wasn't good). Really has no part in the sport.

Very fortunate to only get a 5 game ban, considering he had "previous" for the same thing.

For me, it's simple.
That was a deliberate ankle-snapping movement, that should be punished severely.
I can easily understand the 10-match ban for the same offense.
What I absolutely cannot understand is how a second offense receives LESS matches.
For me, it should have been a double-up.
Do it once - 10 matches/3 months.
Do it again - 20 matches/6 months
Do it a third time - Anything from 1 year to "We never want to see you in our sport again".

Makes no sense how this was given a lesser punishment to the one last year. Doing it once could be seen as forgivable, the second shows that you clearly have not learnt from your mistake.

It would be interesting to know what saints fans views of this are being one of their players. No room for this inn our game and if this player has previous for doing this then the book should have been thrown at him. That type of tackle not only injures players it can end careers.

Most of us think he should have got at least 10 matches, there is no excuse for that type of stuff. |
