Yet again, Red Hall is going after the messenger & not addressing the real problem of p...poor and/or inconsistent refs.

I thought they both would and I agree that they have. We all have a go at refs, some of it is justified, some of it is through bias and some of it is out of order. Both Wane and Browns comments went too far IMO and they got what they deserved.

It was fun though.

I don't deny that. They just need to learn the limits and be a little more tactful. Then it may continue and I can have a giggle over many of the comments both on here and on your forum.

Having a go in the way they did [iwas [/iout of order, but I still maintain the underlying problems are simply swept under the carpet by the RFL & refs' bosses never acknowledging that there is an ongoing problem of both consistency & credibility, but instead they gag those who are on the receiving end of incompetence week in week out.

The only difference between now and 20 or 30 years ago is the amount of TV cameras. Decisions are scrutinised and errors highlighted more than they ever have been. Certain sky commentators don't help either. Refs always have and always will make mistakes. I agree they should be held accountable to a certain extent but the word 'incompetent' is harsh.

Perhaps overstating it a tad, but ignoring persistent offside, forward passes (what [uare[/u the linesmen for if not to be second & third pairs of eyes), flopping etc.. Not to mention the "on report" rule which is too often used as a cop-out when they don't want to make a decision.
I don't want the whistle being blown every five minutes a la Ashley Klein, but we also get the other extreme where the man in middle won't stop the play unless there are body parts in each corner of the park.

We all have a rant about this, that or the other decision every week so this is just my two-penn'orth. But we also know each week what sort of game we're going to have because of whichever official is either on the pitch or in the Winnebago in the car park. Wane's comment about Thaler is spot on because he's got previous (he just should have gone about it differently). Umpteen coaches have complained about him over the years, but nothing is done other than to punish those who have the temerity to poke their heads above the parapet.

The problem is that refs are told to let games flow and ignore offside, not square, lying on, flopping, ball stripping...in fact all the things that slow the play down.

Eitrher that or Bentham is seen as twice as valuable as Thaler...
