| What a start to the season this lad is having. He's put on some much needed bulk and its worked a treat. He's a handful in attack and defences are having a real hard time dealing with him each time he takes the ball in.
If we had all our props available he'd without question be in my starting 4 on form, probably alongside Flower, Mossop and either Taylor or Dudson.
We've got some excellent young forwards at the moment. I pray we can keep them all because in a few years they're going to be fearsome.

| Taylor's best game without doubt. He'll be a top draw player once he really finds his feet and he's been working in Wigans system for a while.

| Really impressed with him so far this season and he was one who I had my doubts over. Hopefully we can get some bodies back and give him a rest at some point to keep him fresh.

Wane is going to have a right headache when Prescott, Dudson and Lauaki are fit. Prescott and Lauaki must be at least a bit concerned of getting a game given how all the rest of them have been playing.
As someone else said Taylor looked good tonight also. I know it was apoor Widnes side but he looks to be getting fitter after a slow start.

| All this bodes well for the business end of the season. The more experienced lads will ultimately get their places back when fit and be fresher for it in the long run. Meanwhile, the youngsters are now stepping up to the mark, typified by Crosby last night. Previously that didn't happen, a la Widnes away last season.

I think he`s had Terry O Connor`s head transplanted on his body and then had a facelift and elocution lessons.

Exactly. We're still at the right end of the table and our youngsters are gaining some great experience. If/when we do get more senior players back it bodes well as it should ensure we're fresh for the important games at the end of the year.

| Thoroughly deserved the mom today.
Glad to see we also had a sponsor who picks the actual mom as opposed to the player they want to meet most.

Does my head in that.
Pat didn't get MoM on his 200th game for us despite scoring two tries and kicking loads of points. I think Green got it and that was a night when I would have gone with sentiment but I think it was the home game before that Pat got it and no one knew why. I am sure there is a sponsor who is Pat's personal fan club and he gets it every time they are the sponsor. Must be embarrassing for the players!

I agree there's a time for sentiment, but too often these days a player gets mom when there have been several players who have performed above him.

| I was stunned when Crosby got it simply because it was the correct decision!
He looks like the player I've seen dominate games at u20's level now he's put on some weight. He's all action with a fantastic workrate and will only continue to improve over the years.
Him, Flower and Taylor were sensational yesterday (a couple of sloppy errors aside).

| I'm really impressed with him. Thought Matty Smith might have got MOM as he was brilliant in the first half, but Crosby deserved it.

Good to see so many young forwards coming through but you expect it with wane as coach
I know someone mentioned widnes last year the difference is they are not being thrown in for one game they now have SL experiene and to be honest are handling it very well

| Just when British forwards were starting to look a little thin on the ground with the likes of Morley and Peacock coming to the end, there suddenly seems to be a lot of top young props knocking about. I thought Taylor and Crosby were excellent yesterday, and going forward Alex Walmsley is going to be an absolute monster judging by his performance in a beaten pack.
George Burgess is looking immense at Souths this year, and Chris Hill came good last season. Adding to the likes of Graham, Crabtree and Sam Burgess, who might end up in the back row for England at this rate. Exciting times, if only we could produce quality backs in such numbers.

When I watch Crosby I can see similarities to Jamie Peackock when he was younger, a tall and rangy type of runner.
I also think that Wigan could do worse than use him as second row cover when the so called first choice props are fit.

Yes, and if that idiot Gary Heathrington and his bosom buddy Nigel Wool get their way the likes of Crosby would be back playing at St. Pats or Rugby Union.

| Great news for England this. Really shone out yesterday did the lad.
From a Saints PoV Alex Walmsley is improving as his fitness is growing. Someone said he made the most Ms of any other player on the pitch yesterday? If true that is phenomenal considering he isn't playing major minutes yet. He isn't even up to SL fitness yet.
Maybe the reduction in Aussies will turn out to be a good thing in the long run for SL?

I said to a mate the other day if we could only get some investment in the game now we could be laughing. We are producing more young players then I can ever remember but without cash the best will continue to be picked off.
This World Cup is massive for the future of our sport. Its an opportunity to showcase what we're about and try to catch the eye of investors. We need the rugby league community to get to as many games as possible. Top players playing in top games but in front of half empty stadiums will do nothing for us.
I'm getting to as many as I possibly can.
