| Until yesterday i'm fairly sure all but one try we've conceded (Myler) has come down their side? Both performed well vs the Broncos but were, for lack of a better word, roasted vs Warrington (more specifically the excellent/paceless Monaghan) and Huddersfield. It's difficult to tell from the stand but it seemed Thornley and others were drawn in leaving Pat 2 or more vs 1.
Switch Goulding when fit over to the left to cover for pace? When we have a second row is Hughes just going to slot in? It's the easy answer but after a few years in the fatty code Thornley may still need time to adjust to the 13 man game.
Also Pat's kicking has been a bit pants.

You have to give them time as a pair to get their positional understanding. Pat had five years with Carmont as his centre partner. I think he's trying to cover for Thornleys lack of experience. Mind you I'm still not convinced about Thornley as a centre, but that's for a different discussion.

| Its certainly been noticeable. To be fair yesterday though, Colbon took advantage of Pat covering full back whilst Sam was in the bin. I doubt he'd have scored otherwise.

And Mossop was out of the game by then still waiting to be substituted.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure we haven't actually conceded that many tries and certainly not a significant number down our far left hand side.
We conceded none against Salford - against Wire their first try was Richards' error (only a few inches out of position though) but it was mainly down to excellent vision and a good pass. Wire's second had nothing to do with Thornley or Richards, it was an overlap created in the middle of the field. The third was down to Dudson being far too slow to slide across in defence.
Against Huddersfield their first try was again caused by an overlap with McIlorum getting fooled by a dummy run forcing Thornley to come inside and leaving Richards facing 2 - also a poor tackle attempt by Charnley. Their second was scored between Green and Thornley, but to have an overlap so close to the centre of the field suggests the team numbered up wrong at the play the ball. Their final try was just from an error in attack.
The first try from London was simply because they had two extra players in the line at the time. London's second came from a poor pass from Smith which went behind the man and London broke clear and scored and their third from a very lazy kick that was charged down.
In terms of the actual tries we've conceded one of them can be put down as an error from Richards or Thornley.

| There's been some issues for sure but better to get the mistakes out of the way now ready for when the 'proper' season starts around August. The injuries we've suffered aren't ideal and the team does have to improve in quite a few area's but the positive thing is we've got plenty of time to get it right.
Thornley looks inconsistent to me but he's certainly talented and capable of some very good moments. We must remember he's still very young and has been away from the sport for a while.

| I think individually Thornley is actually having a really good start to the year. I've been impressed. Give them time and they'll be ok

I agree... People being critical of him should just look at how few games he has played and realise he is still a very young man.. Good luck to him..

| I must agree that Thornley has played quite well so far, and im all for everyone having an opinon but i dont think some people are following our games properly and trying to pick out negatives rather than the positives which from what ive seen so far there has been more. Against Warrington i thought Thornleys line speed and defence was outstanding and a couple of occasions against london he cut out the overlap with quick line speed, i think the tries we conceded were definitley errors and i believe they came from both halfbacks one was a charge down with no full back because sam was in the bin and the other 2 where down to poor passes or maybe organinsation through matty smith but everyones allowed an off game just as long ast it doesnt happen against stains or leeds etc..
Weve got some injuries at present and we fielded quite a few youngsters against london and they played most of the second half in which we managed to nill London and put 34 points on them so lets focus on the positives please.

| I seem to recall that Carmont copped some flak at first as well, he turned out ok in the end.
Give it time - the team as a whole has had a lot of changes - it is going to take a while for everyone to settle into their roles.

| I thought Thornley did well. Working with Paaaaat will help, and he still got two tries at the weekend. At Wakey last year, when he had just come back, he showed really good signs that he has a great future in RL.

| What has impressed me most this year with Thornley is the way he has combined well in attack with his winger. Last season Paddy had real issues combining with whoever replaced George. The timings were off, and chances went begging. Gelling also struggled to work out a partnership with his centre when he was playing. therefore the ease with which Thornley has slotted in has been impressive.
