He had opportunities, but whether he took them is another matter.

Personally, I was sorry to see him go. But no player with ambition is going to be content to bench-warm for ever.

Marsh always seemed to have the same problems, he ran with his head down, rarely passed to his winger and often ran the wrong lines. His defence could be a little suspect too.

While there was obviously a chance that he could improve all of those things he simply got to the point where he was too good for the reserves, not good enough for Wigan's first team but good enough for a rival.

From what I've seen so far and at under 20's level Thornley is a much better prospect.

Fastest player at our club. Knows where the try line is and picking up his trade very well, a good strike centre. Has a few things to work on, he can run his winger out which is a problem but we can work on that

I'd have kept him tbh. He's certainly got some talent although I'm convinced he's no centre. I'd have given him some opportunities on the wing and even at fullback and I think he could have offered us sone good utility back up.

Starting centre at Widnes or back up at Wigan though. What would you choose? He's probably made a good call.

His defence was pretty dodgy so that would rule him out as a full back. I'd agree he was alright on the wing but he would be the 4th best winger if he was here now which isn't really enough to justify keeping him on. I hope he goes well at Widnes but I think it was the right decision to let him go.

Should have been given a few games on the wing on a duel reg. Strong with pace to burn. Possibly a victim of being in the wrong position.

Anyone see who was top of the OPTA Stats this week. I know one good game does not prove too much. But FYI. When Stefan covered for Carmont in 2011 he asked Madge why he didn't get more ball and was told that he was in the team for his defence, and that they were more than happy with that. IIRC During that time we conceded far more tries on the left wing during that period than down Marsh and Charnley's side.

An excellent winger and a decent centre too. He may or may not have excelled in his junior position of full back at senior level.
