| 1. Wane is nowhere near a SL coach. There is no point hammering teams in March and leaving nothing in the tank for the playoffs. Sorry, I like SW but he hasn't the intellect to be a coach.
2. IL is a poor chairman. If his replacement stand off is anything to go by, then must surely know that this is a massive reduction in talent than is currently occupying our number 6 shirt. Where did the Fielden money go? IL you seriously need to step up. Wigan is the most famous brand in RUGBY LEAGUE and I fear that you are attempting to "do it on the cheap".
3. Once again the playoff system is found wonting. Leeds, and fair play to them, played the system like a piano, we, unfortunately did not. But how can you justify a team who finished in the position that they did, to make the GF?
Irrespective of the above, I could go on about the transient move away from RL as a source of talent to the inevitable benificiary of RU, but I won't at this time.
Wigan need a serious change of attitude and injection of cash. If IL cannot see this then he is a fool.

| I can't argue with your statements.
We are not good enough and with the players we are losing, we could become a middle of the table club next season.
Sam Tomkins face said it all tonight, and I fear he might go sooner than later too.
We were bereft of ideas tonight. And was Gaz Hock injured ? We kept going to the right. George Carmont hardly had a touch.
Leeds are not a good side, but we were worse unfortunately tonight. That first half was woeful.

| 3. You can justify it incredibly easily - they were the best team in the play-offs, against everyone they played. Are your complaints that there are more than 4 teams in the play offs (Not much of a play off system) or simply that the teams (Not including whoever wins tomorrow) above 5th position were not good enough at the end of a season to win the play-offs? Is this a play-offs issue, or an issue about the top teams not being strong enough to play to win all the way up until Old Trafford, with the pressure? That's not a criticism - I'm not here to troll the board, it's just a question.

If Wane is nowhere near a SL coach then I presume we only have 2 SL coaches in the league: Brian McDermott and whomever win's tomorrow. Is that what you are saying?

| I agree with Darkstar its his first season FFS.
Our problem is that Finch was awful tonight and in the big games when we need our 6 to stand out he has gone awol this season. His judgements at time is lacking and tbh in a tight match Blake is an upgrade on Finch. Problem is no team in SL can afford a quality halfback from the NRL anymore. Most sides if not all will see a drop in quality. Some of our major star players in both semi finals have had a nightmare. Our props were crap first half. IL has made very wise signings in Smith, Blake and by all accounts Taylor. What do you excpect Thurston, Slater and Galen.
Where i do hope that Wane learns is to start treating a non game such as Saints at home this month as what it was a non important game and rested the most volatile players in the squad. That has cost us in losing MM. I know i will get the usual replies about the importance of beating Saints. But just as beating Widnes its only 2 points and those were 2 points against Saints we could lose. What we could not lose was an influential player and risk injuries on top of that. I do agree Wane has a lot to learn but give him at least 2 more years and i do think he will turn out to be a very good coach.

Back on topic I feel Wane showed a lack if experience if he learns from it he will be a fine coach, if he does not he will be shown the door.

| While i have been very critical of Wanes 'tough' approach all season, i think he will learn from the two semi final defeats. Hopefully he will drop the hardman mentality and stop winding opposition players up before big games. At the end of the day we will never have another Maguire as coach, he is a one off and was far too good for SL. We were beaten by the better team tonight, on another day we might have won. That is the nature of play off rugby. Does XBrettyKennyX think Wire should have sacked Smith after they lost last year?

My 14 year old son passed comment on the wisdom of playing an inexperienced fullback ...... don't get me wrong JM is a very talented player, hopefully tonights events don't break his confidence.
As for costing us the match I have to disagree .... I thought a crucial decision featured early in the game when we ran a very kickable penalty ..... we didn't just miss the opportunity to take two points (ironic since we lost by one point) but we then dropped the ball and Leeds went the length of the pitch for their only try.

There are numerous problems with the current play off format that have been mentioned on here long before tonight. The first is the current format means some fixtures are impossible so a team from lower down can get to the final without being tested against a team who finished higher in the league. That is wrong and easily put right by the old top 5 system.
Another problem is the team with the easiest game in week 1 is the team that finishes 5th. The 4th placed side who finished higher up the league "won" the right to an away game at the top placed side whereas the side finishing 5th is at home to 8th. That is an absolutely stupid way to do things. 3rd is away at 2nd while 6th is at home to 7th. This is also stupid. In a top eight system there is no way any team in the bottom four should have a home game in week 1 when sides who finished above them are away at tougher opposition.
As it happened Les Cats had a very tough game v Wigan then played Leeds who had an easy win against a poor side who do you think was the fresher of the two teams?
And that highlights another reason why the top 8 is rubbish - the standard across the league is not high enough for a side finishing 8th to be anything other than cannon fodder.
The top 5 is miles better. Under that the 5th placed side would have to win every game away from home playing every side sides who finished above them. That is a proper "reward" for finishing 5th. And no poor sides in the competition either.

Wane brought most of the current team through the ranks so surely it is more his team than madge's? He has also debuted many youngsters this year which is a credit to him and will pay off in the future. Sure he has a lot to learn, but finishing top with most points for and against ain't bad for a first year with plenty of young lads coming though. He must have more than just passion to do that.

| The playoff system is a joke and you've been shamefully robbed yet again, of that there's no doubt. But, ultimately, Wane has steadily eroded the fantastic side that Maggie put together, and take Tomkins out of your lineup and personnel wise you're just not all that special compared to Leeds or Warrington (or us in the forwards) and will be worse next season (just about better than us in the backs still though). I think your achievements over the last 3 seasons have papered over a few cracks and next season might be a bit of reality check for you guys.
At least you will have halfbacks though unlike us ....
