That ref was shocking letting play go on .What if there was an interception in that play and we go back down the pitch .Would he of stopped it then ?

would wigan have stopped playing if we had a chance to score?

Can't see goulding passing a head test this week. Was a nasty blow that one.

That play HAD to be stopped ,If i was a player i would of kicked it out of play.

You'd give up possession and a chance to score to stop the play, even when the player is being treated by the physio regardless?

I'm sure the downed player would rather you played on to be honest.

I didn't think the RFL guidelines allowed for stoppages for injuries where play wasn't being impeded, as was the case here. They have to play on until a natural stoppage occurs. As Goulding was being treated by the doctor and numerous medical staff in the other half of the pitch, I can't see how the situation would have been improved by a game stoppage. It's not like he could have been offered any more medical help than he was being offered at the time.

Of course, as a Wigan fan, I would have liked to have seen us defend that set with 13 rather than 12 men but if it merely been a twisted ankle that could have been run off, this situation would have been identical and we wouldn't be hearing such vociferous complaint. Perhaps if Widnes hadn't scored, this wouldn't even be a topic of conversation.

I spoke to my Rugby Union playing son in law last night (who us also a PE teacher). He said that the directive in Union and in football was that game should be stopped immediately if there is a head injury.

Haven't seen it again, but it looked like he and Hansen(?) had a nasty collision both trying to tackle Flynn - just unfortunate. Both players were down for a while, Goulding much longer, unmoving so quite worrying. Shame play didn't stop from our point of view, but I expect the Widnes fans would have complained if he had, because the disarray allowed our right hand side to be completely depleted, letting them have that painfully soft try.

Just one of those things that can happen in sport, glad to hear he is ok, he and Charnley have been proving to be a strong partnership so far this year.
