| I thought the club may have used the north stand on Sunday either in a commercial or community sense to market the club and the sport?
The north stand was opened a few seasons ago from what i remember and attacted a decent overall crowd.
I would think that Catalans and London at home would be used to a greater advantage...
Personally i would use both those games as a commercial and community tool, commercially local businesses could have a day out, networking etc and at another game local schools or schools on the outskirts could be exposed to RL and Wigan.
Thoughts...

| I agree, but there's always the dilemma of how many games can you offer free/discounted tickets before the 10,000+ who've shelled out for season tickets start to get brassed off...
FWIW, I'd always allow under 11's free/dirt cheap entry when accompanied by a paying adult.

| Suprised we didn't do it tbh. Surely the Sunday aft is more attractive to the floaters than the Friday against London?
Sure the club have plenty planned, mind

| I wouldn't be too fussed if it was only for two games. If it means getting better crowds for games, then I'm all for it.

| Doesn't particularly concern me, 14,500 is a fantastic crowd for Catalans at home.

| as mentioned the club have to be careful not to de-value season tickets however offering free tickets to local youth amateur teams would be a good idea

Doesnt necessarily have to be free, could be like the previous post said with a paying adult etc. I think the commercial idea could attract businesses to network and have a few drinks etc then watch the game bit of a mixer really, maybe once a season and build on it.

| I think doing it once or twice a year against clubs like London is ok. But the Catalans match was effectively a big game and we could expect more people to want to come anyway, as opposed to London games. so had we given away the north stand how much revenue could we have lost out on? 14,500 was a very respectable crowd and like others have said, there's a fine line between promoting and devaluing season tickets.
we seem to have done it once a season with heinz the last few seasons iirc and for now atleast thats the way it should stay.

| I think the club could have a 'Wigan schools' game each year and fill the North stand with school kids. Some of the schools in and around Wigan are massive for rugby league like Deanery, St Peters, Fisher...

| In the past like the club has said every ticket is paid for at full price and not given away, like at the socccer club in the town where x number is given away every game.

| To be honest, I would prefer the club to give tickets to primary schools as well as secondaries. Primary aged children will have to be accompanied by an adult whereas secondary school young people are more likely to be accompanied by their mates. Last year, not sure what match it was, Wigan Council distributed family tickets to disadvantaged families. I got 27 families to their first ever rugby match, many of whom have been to additional matches since when funds allowed.

| Well I'm a season ticket holder and wouldn't mind if non regulars were given two or three opportunities a year to come to the games where we know the away supporters will just about fill a taxi, London and Catalans being the obvious ones. So as not to stand on our toes perhaps it could be worked along the lines of season ticket holders being able to get a ticket for a friend/relative at a reduced price rather than them being given away. Don't know about anyone else but the more the merrier for me and anything to encourage folk to come to matches more often is ok by me.

nice idea in theory but dont imagine it takes a brain surgeon to work out that a whole stand dedicated to mostly teenagers, with school/club rivalries will likely turn sour. some of these rivalries are pretty intense even at early teenager level.
primary schools and free kid with adult might be a better idea?

I have been a part of these rivalries. We played regular big games against Fisher and St Peters, but that would never ever spill onto a terrace, I find it strange that you think it would. A lot of lads actually play together at their local clubs but then compete against each other when they are playing for schools.
I reckon the idea would work well. Sell tickets for a fiver in every single school, the primary and secondary school which sell the most get a visit from the whole Wigan squad for an afternoon of activity.
