Lauaki played well considering when he was at fc he didn't look interested as did flower and dudson can see you in top 2 again

Considering O'Loughlin, Hock or Fielden were not involved - it was a very impressive Wigan pack display, we have a ton of options in the forwards. Thats what I take out of today. But I think Rovers held their own in that battle the majority of the game. It was a good forwards contest I thought - helped by Bentham who reffed well and let the game flow!

What did you think of Gelling then? Will he make the centre spot his own?

Going by the fact Tomkins was there last year and did well for you, Goulding had a solid game but I think gelling when played more matches will be a smart signing

Solid. I don't think he was tested too much. He Looks the part physically. But the key for him is whether he can find the right pass at the right time, be able to defend solidily and defend kicks. Hard to judge someones mental ability on one game. He didn't look out of place though.

There were a couple like that yes I agree but I'm pleased if thats the only thing refs are calling - barely heard his whistle and they are better games when the penalty count is low. It was a good hard battle today and he reffed it well I thought.

I was impressed with Gelling.

He was strong and made one particular long rampaging break, bouncing Hull defenders off whilst showing agility for a big lad. Though he seemed generally fit, he just seemed as though he needed more match fitness which is to be expected.

I thought Finch was a bit hit & miss so he didn't get brilliant, consistent service in what was quite a flat back line when attacking. With the addition of Tommy and Sam linking up from the back, this will add depth and enable Gelling more time with ball in hand.

I think it's essential that he plays in the remaining friendlies to adapt to Super League and match fitness.

Not sure who it was that Webster gave a good hit, thought it might have been Gelling? Whoever it was I am sure they won't be thanking the person who passed it to them, Webster had so much time to line him up!!

Now its just a shame Gelling is having trouble to get to training on time and today he didnt bother to turn up at all

if this is true then he should be worried not us as Shaun Wane does not strike me as the type of person who will put up with this type of attitude.

Either way I find it difficult to believe that Wane would reward him with a start even in a friendly if he was struggling to turn up for training on time.

Gelling lives with the Leuluai brothers so i'd assume if Gelling is turning up late then so is Tommy, cant see it being true.

I still think goulding must be ahead of him. Darrell was very good yesterday, you could see that he was playing for his place and he was strong defensively as well as having a hand in russells try.

Goulding got huge backing from Wane in the press today. Wane said all he's ever needed is to be backed and he's going to back him through thick and think.

Goulding must feel 10 ft tall after that.

All the reports I've read in papers today have him down as man of the match.

Good work from Wane, Goulding will no doubt pull his tripe out after hearing his manager support him.
It's been mentioned before on here that Goulding will always 'do a job' but can he perform on the big stage? I hope so.

As for Gelling, it would be very disappointing, if true. We are giving the guy a chance to get back on his feet
and he repays us with in-discipline.

I have never understood the posters who get on Goulding's back, he has always played consistently well in he has never had a bad run of from in the first team. I for one hope he has an awesome 2012 season and cements his spot in the starting 13 as for Gelling if the rumours are true it would be massively disappointing for him to treat the club this way after we transferred him over to the UK and give him a shot at the biggest team in Super League.

I have always rated Goulding. Solid player imo. The bizzare thing is he is still only 23.......... He seems to have been around forever!
