Mayfair Travel are doing a day return by train to wembley for anyone interested,standard £55 or 1st class £69.

Are these the specials that the club are running? Thought they were £41...

The chartered club ones are £51 IIRC. Either way, it's only £27 ont' coach.

Not sure,called the mayfair express direct to wembley stadium.

Remember....ALL rail travel (charter/club/normal) will be affected by west coast engineering works that weekend. Expect a big detour around Manchester.

Chiltern Railways have no trains running on that line that weekend, bus replacement services but none covering Wembley Stadium station. How are Mayfair running a train on a line that is supposedly closed?

The club one is £56.50 if Im not mistaken. They say on the site that due to work on the line, that this is the only direct train from Wigan. Don't know if it's the same train as Mayfair

Trans from wigan to london via man picc around 3 to 3 and a half hours,according to the trainline.com.

with all the uncertainty of whether on not the train will actually get there along all the closed lines...coach seems best option

we are on the 8.15 from Piccadilly £52 each. gets in Euston at 10.20

Wembley Stadium Station is closed from 21st to 27th August (inclusive), so anyone going by rail might be seeing some unplanned bus travel as well (unless they go in to Euston and then use the Metro line underground out to Wembley Park - That's still open.

trains are running on Friday when a lot of us are going ......... no problems then.

We're catching the 7am to Crewe, then connecting train to Euston.

You'd have to go to the ground, or ring up on Weds I'd imagine.

ok......Mayfair (11 coaches) and Finches are both booked up for coaches.

Trains direct from Wigan to Wembley on mayfair, will take 4 hours and no changing.
leaving wigan between 8 and 8-30,arr wembley 11-30-12, returning 6 pm...........back in wigan by 10.

they do know about the rail works, and have worked out a direct route.....thing is......it wont keep stopping, so it;ll be quicker than normal trains.

and you get 2 hours extra sleep saturday morning cos coaches leave at 6-30

One option is to go via Liverpool.
North Western to Lime St then direct to Euston. Normal schedule 2hr 8 mins.
I've booked the 9.48 from L. St arr Euston 11.56.
Return 18.33 arr Lime St 20.48 £64.50 return.
From Wigan it's not ideal but an option!

Driving down Friday, returning Sunday in a Chauffeur driven VW Cabriolet for a family of 3.

Fuel costs for 400 mile round trip (Uxbridge and back) circa £65/£70 for a family of 3.

Can't be beaten on price.

PS: I'm the Chauffeur!

there doesnt seem to be one.

chartered train from Mayfair sems best if u just want there and back.....see my above post......and its booking up fast
