found some old recorded videos of the academy league which used to be shown on sky sports a few years back.was some promising players for wigan, just wondering what happened to them and if they are still playing??

daryl lacey was from blackbrook and was tipped to be a superstar. Would be very interested to see what he's up to now.

His older brother was very good prop as well.

Lacey played a short stint in France and now plays occasionally for Liverpool bucs. He was a man child at 12, never really progressed from that.

I recall seeing him when he was about 12 and he was huge. He was by far to good for his age and just walked thru teams.

As in all youth rugby league all the big kids look good but when all the kids catch up to them they then look average.

I went to uni with Daryl. He damaged his rotator cuff in his teens and never really recovered from it. Turned out for the uni team a few teams but had to strap his shoulder up something rotten

Should have taken it to a good mechanic.

Sad that a injury may have stopped him becoming a good player.

I was concussed by Brett Robinson when we played at school level, dirty sod. He's at Widnes now I think.

Martin Gambles went to Chorley/Blackpool and once scored a hat trick against Leigh if memory serves me right.

Speakman came to Leigh for a season in 2006 but can't for the life of me remember where he ended up.

Dean Hatton has played a couple of games for Leigh reserves recently. He played a couple of first team games a couple of years ago before going to Blackpool before they went bust.
