It looks as though it could be along season for these young players.

Is this age group just not as good as the ones that have gone before them or is it a case of the best of them playing for the under 20's?

It seems to be the new intake for the U 18's and most of them appear to be at the younger end of the scale. i thought they put in a spirited effort in the second half though.

This U18's looks the weakest we have produced in many years.

How did Rovers U18's look. Alot came from our U16's this year so still quite young even for the U18's.

Thought your 13 ( Bell?) and 11 ( Pullen?) did well and your stand off (Beharrel?) controlled a lot of play. Wingman ( Mauchan?) looked strong as well.

The score was reflective of the game. HKR looked stronger in most areas, the winger Maughan and stand off Scott were very good.

Reading Bilko's site I see the under 16's and 15's season starts soon. I know it's hard to say before a ball's even been kicked, but how are those two sides shaping up? For those in the know, have we recruited well? The competition for these young lads between ourselves, Saints and Wire must be fierce.

Well what is disappointing is that I count just 4 of 20 from our Under 16s squad last year that have played in the Under 18s so far (those being Chris Taylor, Connor Farrell, Andy Whyte and Jonny Brown). So clearly something went wrong there. It might go a long way to explain the Under 18s poor start, I don't know. Not sure how other teams compare.

So we've either deemed the majority of last years under 16's not worthy or we've lost them to other clubs. Unfortunately what ever the case our under 18's are clearly suffering because of it.

Regarding the under 20's it'll be interesting too see how they go without the likes of Crosby, L Tomkins and Davies in the side. Particularly if unlike this week they don't have the likes of Amos, Goulding and Marsh in the side.

According to Sky Live Score Centre Tom Crosby played. They both came off the bench. One Widnes supporting tweeter said "For reference Logan Tomkins is pretty class ". The team though chucked in a 12-0 lead to lose 32-12.

I listened to BBC Radio Leeds for coverage of the game, however they were juggling 4 or 5 games so I heard no more than about ten minutes in total. Not a very successful weekend for the lads on dual registration this week with Barrow and Widnes both losing. But still far better for them to be playing at this level than at under 20's.

Tomkins came on and injected some speed and energy round the play the ball. Tremendous work rate and missed nothing in defence. Crosby came on and put some good drives in and tackled hard. Went to put a big hit in but unfortunately got a head injury and didn't get back on, which was a shame as he was just getting into the game.
The heavy defeat was no reflection on their efforts at all.

Your U16's last year was very poor IMO. That'll be why bot many are playing U18 at the minute.

Saints have 11 players playing in our U18's at the minute who all played U16 last year.

Watched this game and thought 13 for hull kr was good and full back and number 12 for wigan did good. 12s work rate was brilliant. I was told during the game only 5 contract players played in this game for wigan-think it's about time some contracts where given out.
