Being discussed on another forum
www.totalrl.com/forums/index.php ... irectives/
"Just to clarify a few points I was speaking to a mate of mine (who is a SL match official) and he told me that the following will sin-bin offences:
Wrestling holds
Crusher tackles
Grapple tackles
Twisting of limbs or limb
Attacking the standing legs of tackled players
Head slams
Dangerous kick charge downs
Dangerous shoulder charges
To be regarded as dangerous the conduct must have involved an unacceptable risk to the opposition player."
Apparently at the request of Super League CEOs

Are these supposed to be new, or are they just making a matter of record what already exists?
The grapple-tackle on Sam by Willie Manu was one of the best I've ever seen, but he didn't get sin-binned for it.

| Luke Robinson was on Radio Leeds at the weekend describing the wrestling techniques employed by the Wigan players. He was particularly concerned by a technique called ankle locks which he said was very painful. He went on to say that they specifically target ankles, knees and elbows.
This was off that thread add another to that list

I wonder if he tried to sell that story to the press as well, only this time no-one was buying?
Luke Robinson, eh? A regular man of integrity.

| You'd think we have The Rock and Hulk Hogan playing in our back row from the sounds of some these moaners!
Wigan have a defensive tactic to put an extra man into the tackle to control the ruck and slow the PTB down.
It works effectively, apart from Lima's chicken wing at MM I can't remember any other occasion this year when undue pressure has been put on an opposition player more so than every team does!
Either adopt the tactic yourselves or accept that your defense won't be as good as Wigan's!

The thing about being "in the know" is that you publicise it a lot, without publicising anything.

| So it appears all these tackle tactics are now to be considered as foul play. Players committing this type of foul play are to be sin binned.
Has anyone told them that players can't be sin binned for foul play?
They are making it up as they bloody well go along!
Beggars belief it really does!
So how many rules are they changing now then? We must deduce from this, that from now on players can be sin binned for foul play. Is it all aspects of foul play or the ones just listed from their recent meeting?
In the Hull game two players should have been sin binned for fighting, they weren't and it caused a riot leading to a player being sent off. That was a complete and utter shambles.
So where do we go with this? Every team down to 11 or 12 by 15 mins into the game?

| As I replied in my text to Jukesays last night. Will they be as keen on the head high tackle or will that be just a penalty?
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

They can for late hits on a kicker, sounds like they're just expanding the list.

No, just the referees.
They were discussing the implementation of these directives put forward by the RFL after "Discussions" that some Chairs of the Super League clubs had with the RFL.

That's the nub of the issue. What we've probably had is some, not all, of the Chairs on the whinge and Red Hall enters appeasement (aka bending over backwards while handing them the Vaseline) mode.
I agree with the Owd Rogue, I can imagine Mr & Mrs G. Hetherington were at the forefront.
Ah well, just so long as the rules are applied CONSISTENTLY across ALL teams.

Now now Andy, Just because I didn't think it right and that I didnt think it was my place to tell everyone on a public forum that Amos Roberts wife had gone into labour and so wouldn't be playing at MM/Cardiff.
Obviously if people tell you things in confidence you have to be carefull what you can and can't say publically?
I let a number of people I know (Some who post on here some who don't) what I had been sent and told them it would be announced today.
With regards to some of the stuff I was told I can let you know that all the following will be "Automatic Sin-Bins".
Grapple
Chicken Wing
Ninja(? I dont know what that is either)
Crusher
& 1 more type of tackle that I can't remember the name of (Sorry).

I share your frustration but it is worth pointing out that although I agree and it was also my understanding you couldn't be sin-binned for Foul play the just 1 thing, Why do players get sin binned for fighting? Isn't that Foul play?
I'm with you on the "They're just making it up as they go along" theory. From what I've been told that's exactly what they do!
