Not a horrendous decision. Maybe the added responsibility will help him cut out the tantrums. Which ever way you look at it he is a fine player.

I would have give it Ellis or Locky personally.

I think it is a horrendous decision TBH.

Dont get me wrong he is a brilliant player but we have seen this year when the going gets tough and doesnt go his own way (which lets be honest, it wont for England) he is prone to massive tantrums.

Judge him on his performances as England captain, not just in the last game you saw him play.

He's an automatic pick in the team, has captained England to success against Australia in his younger days, is a front runner to take over from a legend as captain of Saints and he leads by example.

If every England player approaches the series with the will to win and competitive streak Graham takes in to every game, we might be spared the annual 40/50 point humiliation.

Poor decision. Just shows that McNamara is totally out of his depth. Mind you he was out of his depth coaching Bradford as their results also showed.

I have no problem with him being captain because he is a quality player and an automatic starter but if has a little bitch fit playing for England I would take the armband off him there and then. Theres no place for that in rugby and if he does something like that the Aussies will be all over him like flies around poop.

I'll be scratching my head over this one for a good while. Graham seems to have credentials to be captain, but it was an undeniably huuuge brainfart from him in the GF, which makes me worry he'll go awol if the pressure gets too much for him.

Then again, there are other motivating, vocal players in the squad who might benefit from not having the pressure of captaincy.

If ever Graham needed to show people that he is the consummate professional and not a dummy spitter... now's the time.

Firstly the appointment of Mcnamara a guy who failed miserably at Bradford and now the appointment of Graham as the national captain shows how much of a joke England have become. Only 5/6 years ago we could have chosen from Farrell, Scully, Radders, KFC, Peacock, Morley or Long and now we’ve got James Graham WTF is going on.

Has Graham even captained Saints yet?

I hate the thought of Mcnamara coaching the Wigan boys. They have gone from being coached by arguably the best coach in the country to probably the worst.

I hate the thought of Mcnamara coaching anyone at this level.

Madge should be the next England manager on a part time basis imo with someone like Brian Mcdermott as his number 2.

Hardworking guys like Roby, Graham, Sinfield, Ellis, Burgess & Morley would thrive under the way he approaches the game and we would at least be competitive against Aus,

Seriously appointing Macnamara to the supposedly top coaching job in English RL after his failure with Bradford and now appointing a player who isn’t even the vice captain of his club side as the England captain is a complete joke.

We let guys like Mick Hogan leave RL but yet the top dogs at the RFL are half as talented as he is?

i dont see it as a poor choice if he shows as much passion and will to win for england as he does for saints il be happy its what england and GB have lacked for years no passion or pride in playing for your country

you look at the aussies, kiwi's and kumuls they all want to wear that shirt and are proud to do so i dont think the english are lets judge him after saturday as morley isnt no angel his send off and sin bin rate in the past was shocking but he made an excellent captain
