a couple of bitter leeds fans commenting on the artice. hes only trying to rally more support as he knows were going to be there in big numbers, compared to stains.

You have always outnumbered us. Right from day one of rugby league's existence. On top of that, we're going to our fifth consecutive Grand Final and we have lost the last three whereas you haven't been to one in seven years. So it doesn't actually take a mathematician to work out that on the balance of probabilities you will outnumber us.

And besides, we're used to it. Leeds (and their sympathisers) have outnumbered us each of the last three years! We'll just sing lots of songs to make up for it.

i though sam tomkins' post match speech for the BBC last weekend was funny, when he mentioned that "leeds and bradford think they have the biggest derby but they don't, wigan v saints is the massivest..." etc etc

Good point. I can understand your fans getting sick of that "losing" feeling. Another year won't help either......

Seem to remeber when one of the storm players signed, think it was Hoffman, was quoted as saying that he had heard of leeds - Bradford but thought this was an airport and was looking forward to playing in the only true RL Derby.

Wigan and Saints fans can agree on one thing, the Wigan-Saints derby is the greatest fixture in the sport. Such is its proud history the fixture has no rival in British RL, let alone an equal.

This match in particular is superbly poised. We have had to endure a decade in which Saints have been top dogs, completely overturning Wigan's dominance of the previous 10-15 years. Saints have a proud team who will fight incredibly hard to win on Saturday, but they are far from invincible, with the remnants of their great side of the mid noughties coming to (or in the case of KFC reaching) the end of their careers there. The Wigan club is clearly on the rise again after a decade in the doldrums (or worse),but though we deserve to be in the final and have every reason to be quietly confident, no-one would say the team is yet the finished article (that will have to wait until next season when Lima, Hoffman and Finch arrive and Hock returns

).

There was a lot of ridiculous hype before the Leeds game. You don't need to hype up this match, it sells itself - what a game this promises to be.

Whether you are a Saints fan or a Wigan fan it is a privilege to be part of this. Bring it on!

Of co St Helens v Wigan is the biggest derby in British RL,its played between its 2 most famous,succesful and biggest clubs. The amount of huge games we've played against each other over the years has only intensified the rivalry.

It made me laugh reading the Leeds site the other day a Rhino fan asking whether their derby with Bradford is "still" the biggest, its not and it never has been.

Wigan v Saints is not a derby because we are seperate towns. A Hull fan was telling me this last Friday for a good hour.

He's correct. There's is only one true Super League derby.

Even if you are correct (your logic would mean that Man Utd v Man City wouldn't be a "true" derby since Man U play in Old Trafford, which is not within the boundaries of the city of Manchester), I don't attach any importance to the technical definition of derby. It doesn't matter whether you call it a derby or not, Wigan - Saints is the greatest fixture in British RL.

Who says that the two teams have to be from the same town for it to be a Derby?

Leeds v Bradford was only really cranked up with the emergence of the Bulls in the summer era. The Hull derby and this have always been massive games.

A derby is simply a game played between neighbouring teams. FWIW though, the FC/KR derby is great.

Just be grateful you have local games...when Widnes get a franchise in 2012, our nearest game will be Halifax!

Any game involving Bradford in the last 3 years can't be associated with 'big' or 'exciting'. If they think that's the biggest game in RL they should knock themselves out.
