on the local news today cant rememeber if it was BBC/ITV. Sale ru are moving closer to rugby strongholds with staging a game not far from WIGAN by holding a game at the reebok stadium in the new year.

It'll be interesting to see how Mick Hogan does with Rugby Union at Sale.
When he was at Newcastle other than Newcastle United, what other clubs/sports did he have to compete with?
Now, he's got to compete whilst representing a poorly supported club in an area that is hotbed of professional sporting clubs.
Oh well, I suppose it pays good.

I find the idea of Sale RU trying to pinch supporters from the Wigan, Leigh, Salford area quite amusing actually. It's so irrational that it smacks of desperation.
RU has no real history of massive support at domestic fixtures. There may have been a surge after they all turned professional, but even though RU is far more entertaining to watch now than it used to be, it always seems to me that only the glamour of the international competitions - helped by a monumental publicity machine - brings in the mega crowds.
Who do they actually think they are going to recruit in this area? I mean, if Orrell are playing to one man and his dog, where is all this support for Sale going to come from?
