| I'm not sure that Bentham did have a good game. I think our discipline was much better than of late and the lack of large numbers of penalties made the game flow much better.
However, I think he tried really hard to penalise us and there were several instances where he gave penalties for extemely minor issues, one in particular which gave them the position to score one of their second half tries was plucked completely out of the air and despite watching it again I can't work out what it was for.
Of course there were the ball stealing incidents which happen in all games which all refs get right sometimes and wrong sometimes but what about missing the saints player going behind the dead ball line and the "tackle" by KC on Tommy. That was far worse then the Farrel incident in the cup against leeds for which the infamous yellow card was awarded. Of course one wasn't awarded yesterday.
No, IMO he was still poor yesterday - his error count was very high on the decicions he had to make, it was the good discipline of both teams took the heat off him.

| The thing that really got me about Bentham was I counted twice where Saints players threw the ball away right infront of him. He didn't give anything, if your going to penalise a player for throwing the ball away, you need to do it for everyone. Foster did a shocker in the first half.
Other than that the only thing Bentham got wrong was Foster slipping over the dead ball line, and Mcilorum's tackle on Pryce. What is Mcilorum supposed to do there! Pryce is through a half gap, is he supposed to leave him incase he kicks? Is he hell, he is supposed to try to tackle him, which he does.Unbelievable decision.

| There was a few dodgy calls for both sides to be fair, but in all he controlled it well and let the game flow into what was a fantastic game to watch. I'd like to say well done to the bloke.

| Did well in a tough game, but some of his calls were a big Old Mary ish for me. Its going to be a tough game, and we all want it to flow - so the persistent whistle blowing particularly toward the end of the 1st half (IIRC) was a bit irritating.
Still, he's better than "Look at me" Ganson.

| Thought he killed us first half, less so after the break but we were chasing a losing cause by that point. Of course Wigan didn't help themselves with errors and could've been a lot closer at half time, but there were a handful of decisions at crucial times which went against us. Maybe it just felt more apparently that way because of the hype over our record with Bentham in charge, though.
That foot over the dead ball line in the first half was criminal, mind. He must've been the only person in the stadium not to have seen that. Wasn't even borderline.

7/10 for me.

| He made a couple of bad ones for us but then he did the same to them. If you went through the game with a fine tooth comb and counted up mistakes it would probably be even against both sides imo. We as a team made more mistakes than him so we cant blame him at all.

| To be fair, he did let the game flow pretty well, and I don't think we can have any serious complaints about the calls he made.
Our discipline was much, much better than it has been this season though.

It was virtually a trip, that is why it was penalised. It was more of a football tackle!!

| In terms of letting the game flow it was amazing to watch but in terms of some individual decisions I didn't think he was all that.

That's why it wasn't given. That kick would have made it 28-12
If you're talking about the one after Wellens try just watch it back on TV

| Not a bad game but the games he ref's the penalty count is more or less even. He gives penalties especially Wigan when they are in their own half which doesnt really effect the game such but gives opposition penalties in positions which can effect and normally end up being a try around half way. So when referees are judged they see it as a level on the penalty count but he was very parictular with some penalities when both teams where offside all day. If he isnt going to clamp down on this then it becomes very difficult to see attacking rugby.
All tries where from 10-15 metres typical when offsides are not punished

| I too think he had a good game. He let the game flow but gave penalties when they were needed. About as good as you get from SL refs at the moment.

According to the RL press today it was either 10-5 or 9-6, depending on which paper. Either way, you won the penalty count, so why the moaning?

| I think he ahd a fair game, but did miss a lot of things, whether deliberately to let the game flow, or just because he's Bentham.
Two late challenges were missed, on Leuluai & Tomkins, that were as bad as the one McIlorum was penalised for.
The decisive ones he didn't give were late in the game, though - we should have had any one of 3 penalties for offside in our last full set before the end, which would have given us the (deserved, IMO) draw.
