I think I heard it'll cost them £41,000 between. I don't know if thats a huge payback for a modern day footballer but I think its a tremendous gesture rather than an empty one. The club doing it is one thing but the players should be applauded for that. Shows a bit of sympathy for the supporters. I wish a few of those wearing cherry&white would have done the same in recent years and showed they were hurting when losing 75-0 at Saints or 34-4 at home to Huddersfield or 57-16 at Cardiff.

I was at the Millennium Stadium (like many others) in 2008 and that day hurt more than any other (even 75-0) but we got nothing except a gesture to "put humpty dumpty back together again!"

My mate went to the game and shall be getting his money back. The one thing Wigan Athletic have managed to do since coming into the premiership is battle and scrap and have hardly ever taken 4,5 or 9 goal beatings until this season. Any team worth their salt would offer the fans their money back after that shambles.

As for our shambolic preformences over the years I was most hurt by that Huddersfield one you mention. They totally give up that day and then had the nerve to come out with bol*ocks after the game like 'it's just one of those things' and 'it can happen in superleague nowadays' instead of admitting any blame.

Hopefully thats the sort of attitude the new coaching set up can change. If we have a shambolic preformence like that, the saints ones or the Celtic one i'd like to hear the players come out and take some sort of blame whilst being determinded to turn it around. In truth i'm hoping those sort of shoddy, half hearted preformences have gone.

I find it a little weird being able to get your money back after a thrashing. If you support a club, you're with them through thick and thin.. That's the whole point.

There are thrasings and then 'proper thrashings' like Latics one at the weekend. To concede 8 goals in the 2nd half is pathetic and showed a total lack of effort.

It just seems good customer relations to me because £15,000 between all the players is like a normal bunch of blokes having a whip round for £20 and at the end of the day the fans that went all the way to Spurs on a Sunday are the real hardcore anyway.

Given that the footballers are on 10 times the salary or more against our players you can hardly compare the 2.

That's the kind of thing that needs to change and I think will change from next season. When we lose it needs to hurt the players as much as it hurts us.

That was my low point as well, being the last game of the weekend having to walk out at the end of the game with the Mrs and couple of mates and their kids while having abuse shouted in our faces was not pleasant at all.
The year before was bad at Cardiff ,and i was at both the saint and leeds nil points games and had lost a close family member just prior to the saints game , but that last Cardiff game was shameful.

I've just reread that match report and it still stings that was my last time i had any faith in BN and his mates

) didn't millward do this in F+B's and make all the players pay for there own food(Kris Rads book) this caused a load of problems behind the scenes.

Especially the way it was built up over the weekend aswell, with it being the last game.

The walk back to the car was horrible, nobody talked and it was just silent for the rest of the weekend.
