TBH I think most professional sports clubs in France are, financially at least, quite well off.
But with the CC, it doesn't matter if Catalans were as rich as Man City or as poor as Pompey. |

I know with regards the CC but they can offer luring transfer fees it would seem which would tempt a club to sell whether the player wants to go or not. |

True, I didn't look at it that way.
Catalans do seem to attract some very good players from the NRL, whether that be the money or the culture/Southern French lifestyle though is a different issue.
This will be an excellent signing for them (as it would be for most SL clubs) IMO. |

Their location and the lifestyle have a great deal to do with it. I imagine it's a bit more tempting to move from Bondi Junction to the south of France than to the M62 corridor.

just as an aside, re salary cap and Catalans - how is it measured for them? Is is a set Euros figure (say 2.2m Euros at 2007 exchange rate) or is it subject to changes in the currency markets? if it is set at British punds level (i.e. £1.6m) their salary cap will diminish whenever it is reviewed given the fluctuations in the exchange rate. ALso, if it is set in Euros, this swould explain the greater financial attraction for Aussies joining them as they could potentially earn more money given the space on the cap.
Just curios as to how the cap works for them.
