| It'll be interesting to see whether the giants can back up tonight, otherwise I can see us being the only side that has won after playing in the semi's.

Just goes to show how important Cunningham is to that side, It'll be interesting to see whether they try and make him do another year, however if they do I believe Moore comes off contract at the end of 2010 so if they do keep Cunningham and don't recall Moore they may end up losing him.

I dont think its just cunningham to be perfectly honest, I think that they are missing longy, he organises their play. Listening to the commentary (granted it was the radio humberside one) they had no organisation at all. Pryce is useless without longy pulling the strings for them.

| Cunningham is Saints main man without question. He lifts them so much by the example he sets and usually the side follows. Long is also an important member of their side but his powers have been on the slide for a little while now and they've managed to plau good rugby without him...........they've hardly ever done that without Cunningham.
They're also missing Cayless and Fa'asavalau bigtime because the workload on Grahams shoulders is far too high.

I kinda just had a wierd thought that i would hope for Graham to get some ssort of niggly injury, not so thats saints would miss him, just so he could get some sort of extended rest. I think he's gonna be a serious threat of burnout, so much work is put onto him at still such a young age.
I'm not saying he's going to be fielden, but he's a prime example of burnout.

It makes you wonder what effect it'll have on Graham later on in his career, burn out springs to mind. A big difference to saints season next year could be whether they keep Cunningham or not, to lose him and Long in the same season may be a big mistake, surely it would be better to spread it out over 2 years and soften the blow.

| We are getting a preview of the Saints side that is void of Cunningham & Long. They aren't nearly as dangerous a side. And I can see Huddersfield winning the GF & CC this year, they're playing that well.

Conversely you could make the point though that losing either one will be a large blow on it's own, so therefore accept it and allow Moore/Roby/Eastmond/Wheeler etc to get a full season in the team.
I think half the problem with cunningham missing is that they don't have a Moore type player who can step in and control the game, they rely on roby and a seriously unproven youngster. Roby is class, but has to be used as an impact hooker, coming on in reasonably short spells and getting the momentum going for his team, similar to Feka for us.
I would say it would be beneficial for them in the long run to let cunningham go and allow Moore to come back next season, even if it were just for the fact that they would keep Moore in the long run rather than losing him at the end of their contract.

That's a fair call, rumor has it that Huddersfield are keen to keep Moore and likewise he's keen to stay, so they may be forced to let Cunningham go so they can accommodate Moore, otherwise they may be scared that he'll fly the nest completely.

Well with Leeds playing Celtic and Salford they won't get a bigger chance to finish top on points diff. Having said that they meet Saints at Headingley in between them two anyway.

What a game thats going to be!
Saints need the 2 big props back if they're to withstand Leeds challenge to finish first imo. Graham is doing his best but the workload looks like swampping him a little at the moment and they'll need the support for him in that type of game.
It's interesting readind recently that the penny seems to have dropped with the majority of Saints fans about Bryn Hargreaves. As most Wiganers always said he tries his heart out but really is 'Mr Average'. He's not worth a first team contract at Saints imo.

We certainly kept the better of the two, Presscot has really started to mature as a player now, and anybody who saw the stats that Clarkey showed on Friday night in regards to are frontrow will have seen what a good job he's doing. Plus I don't know if anybody else has noticed but Preccy's started to offload a lot more now, and some of the balls he offloaded just before hitting the defense line on Friday were great.

We kept the best 2 out of the 3 in Prescott and O'Carroll which is what Wigan fans were saying at the time but it looked a little far fetched because Prescott was hardly ever playing due to injury and O'Carroll was part of a struggling Wigan pack whilst Hargreaves looked pretty good in a Saints pack tearing teams to shreds.
On the subject of Prescott he's maturing week by week. I've always thought the only thing missing to take him on a level was a good run of games and this has been the first season his fitness has enabled him to get that. He's had so many injuries hold him back over the years but finally he looks to be over them and is in top form.
He's the cornerstone of the front row at the moment(which probably don't say too much but hey).

Presscot it just what are frontrow needs, once we have invested in some better props he'll be a good player to have on the bench as with the salary cap we can't have all world beaters, but he does a job for us and for not to much cap, every team needs players like Paul.

I think he has the potential to keep his starting place tbh even with a new signing or 2.
I think ideally for Wigan in a couple of years time they'll be looking at having Prescott starting alongside an experienced signing with a shaped up Feka and Mossop/O'Carroll on the bench.
He'll continue to mature as he gains more experience. He may be 22-23 but due to injuries he's still very inexperienced and you could probably knock a couple of years off him in real terms.
