I'm fascinated to see how this is going to work.

It seems unlikely to me that any of Salford, Cas or Wakey's stadia are going to take shape in time for the next franchise applications. Salford fans are particularly disheartened, while neither Cas nor Wakey seem particularly advanced since the last applications went in. Even Saints fans admit that their plans are delayed and that they may need to play some home matches away.

Are the RFL really going to show the door to three current SL clubs?

I suppose you'd have no problem replacing them numerically - with Leigh, Widnes and Halifax, but wouldn't that lot be a little underpowered given the speed and intensity that SL now (according to the Shaun McRea's of this world) performs at?

This is my great fear for the long term future of RL in Britain. We're always going to be reliant on little, underachieving clubs, because without them we've got no-one else to play.

With 1.75M of new shares sold and the site being cleared I would say the new saints ground is on track!

I'm not sure that getting our own new ground that we own and don't rent from a football club should go on this envy-o-meter, but each to their own.

You haven't sold £1.75m worth of new shares. £1.35m was converting debts of Directors to shares so that the books look better when you try to raise capital to help with the new ground.

Clearing a site doesn't = new ground.

The club have only just put out the tender notices for construction. There's a long way to go yet although not as long as some of the others named.

It says elsewhere not in your new ground. I cannot see you being in your new ground until at least 2013 or even 2014 the site has started to be cleared but who knows what the will find when it is clear. Its an old industrial site and their could be anything hidden underground its not always straight forward i hope you do get your new ground but cannot see it being ready by 2012.

You're reading too much into it, they mean the new ground.

Whilst I don't believe that it's behind schedule, even if it's not finished by the start of the 2012 season, as long as the development is progressing we'll not be kicked out.

But then, I don't think we won't get a licence anyway, the stadium is only part of the criteria anyway.

I never said you would be Kicked out and i really do hope your not even if your new ground is not ready. But i think you could well be playing at another venue for maybe 1 or 2 years it takes nearly 2 years to build a new stadium and thats with no problems. Tenders have just gone out so that means contracts will not be issued until at the earliest December 2009 so work will not start until at least February 2010 so with no hiccups or delays it will be February or March 2012 and i would think its more likely that you would move in at the start of the 2013 season. So it is very likely you will have to play at another ground for 12 months.

Salford are gone then & Widnes will be in.

Wakefield and Castleford seem to have a better chance, but it would be improved so much if they used common sense and SHARED A STADIUM - If they dont the club second in the race will be replaced by Halifax.

Celtic are safe if they go to Newport and Saints are safe because of who they are.

Why though if KR hasn't been knocked down at the time? Which, in all likelihood, it won't be.

Central government awarded the project I think it was £4 million (I can't remember now, it seems like ages ago) to clean up the site prior to building work taking place. A lot of the old buildings have now been demolished. The next phase will be to complete that work and then cleansing of the site can take place. Not a single brick can be laid until the site is given a clean bill of health, but that site has been vacant for at least 15 years so far as I can remember so I'm sure everyone is fully aware of what is on there (including a mine shaft, which I think should go straight under the away end so we can sort the Pie supporters out once and for all!)

No it hasn't! It's been vacant for about 15 years. It's been cleared for about two months!

It is virtually cleared, yes. Pilkingtons had space rented in there until the end of April so nothing could be done until then.

There are some buildings left, but the majority of the old glassworks have now gone.

counting chickens before they are hatched can be a problem. Worked in the construction industry at management level to know all sorts of pitfalls can arise. Its not always black and white and who knows what clauses the RFL will put in you might have to play at another ground.

Don't really care where we play - if we move out of KR it means the stadium is going ahead. I can deal with being nomadic for a few months if needs be - we can take tips from your trip to Widnes



Of course there is always the possibility of hitches in any construction project, but there is little to suggest Saints' stadium is anything other than full steam ahead.

They could merge with Leigh and use their stadium?

Yer so they are still "new shares" that the directors have bought/exchanged to clear debt from the club but im happy for you to continue to think the ground wont happen and be back on here with pics of the stadium being built in 2010!
