| I've read alot speculating on next years team and all have said he should be going, would no-one like to see the guy stay?
Now, I know there is plenty of competition in the Second Row position:
Hock
J. Tomkins
Hansen
Mossop
Bailey
Five players for two spots, now say next year Mossop goes out on a full season loan, which is what I think the guy needs. That still leaves four for two.
But I think Bailey offers the club alot both on and off the field, he gets through alot of hard work, which is unseen on the field. He could be on either big ££ or average ££, we don't know, but I think he could be worth another one year at least?
What do others think?
Part Two
On the other hand I think our Right Second Row position is currently a slight problem, some may raise eyebrows at that, but Hock on the left either draws the player in or busts through many a time, but on the right, all three Hansen, J Tomkins and Bailey don't draw the opposition in and all three are to slow at getting the ball out to Gleeson and Roberts.
To solve it, maybe O'Loughlin to play on the right 2nd row? He can draw the man in and bust through and throw a long ball time to time. Giving J. Tomkins or Hansen ago at Loose Forward. I’m just looking at the line-ups.
Smith/Tomkins - O’Loughlin - Gleeson - Roberts
Smith/Tomkins - Bailey/Hansen/J. Tomkins - Gleeson - Roberts
Think the top line-up is far more attacking then the bottom one.
Just wondering what other’s think on the Right Wing line-up.

| poor mans brian fletcher and on too much of the wedge....got to go for me.....we've got enough good SR at the club and can spend his wedge, smiths wedge, and hopefully fat riddells wedge (fingers crossed the rumours are true) on a class prop and a class half back next season,.....the two positions we really need.

I think Bailey shouldn't be given an extension next season providing that we can replace his leadership and experience which is evidently lacking.
I like Bailey, good player, top bloke, hardworking pro but is he worth a big chunk of the cap and a quota spot when we have other players that can do what he does? No
With Lockers playing so well at 13 and Noble obviously liking him in that position then it won't happen for a while. Unless the new coach(if we get one) recognises Joel as a better 13 and Lockers as a better 12 then it won't happen.
Personally Lockers on the right with Hock on the left and Joel running angles all over the show sounds an awesome prospect to me

| He does not do enough in his all round game to justify that high a wage and a quota spot. I would hope to see Mossop playing in the first team next year if Im honest, I think he offers more than all our backrowers other than Hock going forward, but thats just my opinion.

| We have plenty of good players in that position and when everyone's fit and on form he doesn't get in the 17. He's only there atm because Hansen's form has dipped. Soon Mossop and Farrell are likely to overtake him too, after all he's only an average player and at 28 he's not likely to improve much. His money and quota spot would be better spent on a prop next season where we are desperately lacking.

| Although I respect Phil Bailey's work ethic and commitment tremendously, there is no way in the world he should be given a contract extension.

I agree.
For what he offers, Harrison Hansen could do his job and we could promote Lee Mossop.

Well Harrison Hansen had better start showing it then.
I'm not Bailey's biggest fan, but over the last few weeks we ain't half missed him when he's gone off.

I've been a critic of Hansen, but I can't see what Bailey offers more than him apart from experience.
Plus, Bailey takes up a big chunk of the cap and quota spot.

The chunk on the cap can't be justified, but Hansen's not kicked on like he should have done this year.
But it has been very clear over the last few weeks when he's left the pitch over the last few weeks we've been on the back foot. It wasn't as noticeable against Warrington because Locky had a stormer in defence.

I agree and it's something I've mentioned a few times this season, but if we're looking for a direct, similar replacement for Bailey then Hansen is probably the best option.
Luckily, if Hansen isn't progressing then we have a good selection of replacements within our reserves.
I can't see us missing Bailey as much as we missed Bryan Fletcher.

There's no doubting Bailey won't be missed as much as Fletcher, but the combination of neither there will leave an even bigger hole, which at the moment Hansen doesn't look like filling.
He's certainly capable, which is annoying, but when it's also considered that there are a number of promising players coming through in his position he may well find himself at Huddersfield in a couple of years.

I think that's a bit harsh, HH is off form that's all. We shouldn't be eager to let him go anywhere because if we do it'll bite us back. I think he'd be off to a bigger club that Hudds if he did leave.

I don't think he is off form.
He is just playing consistantly average without any indication that he's going to step up his game.
He's a hard working player but offers little other than good defensive displays and maybe running good lines when attacking the tryline. You do need hardworking players like Hansen, but he can be waste of a squad place when there are other good defensive second rowers who offer much more in attack.

When he came on at Warrington he played at a high tempo for 5 minutes or so making you think 'fair do's he's got a great engine' but then as soon as that dropped he's just a solid player that won't let you down but isn't going to win you games either.
He's a good squad player to have but you really can see Mossop/Farrell/Flanagan getting infront of him in time.
He needs a JJB style rise in form to cement a place in the line up long term imo which i do feel he could have in him.
