Had a very good game last night imo

He’s one of the few guys in our team who looks dangerous when he’s attacking the line.

He's getting better week in week out it's just a shame we don't have anyone on his shoulder when he makes the half breaks. Lockers went with him once and we scored off it.

Why all the doom and gloom?

In recent weeks our support play has been good. I think your over reacting slightly off the back of one game in awful conditions.

The first half last night was one of the best halfs of RL i've watched in years. Two very good teams not giving an inch and putting it all in.

Yep good hit on Stan and then hit Fozzard staight after, was immence and the Wigan crowd started to get up for it. Then Rovers kicked it down field and Phelps got smashed and then Wigan lost the ball, that's real RL biff.

It brought a tear to the eye that snippet of play................it was beautiful



People getting bashed all over the place.

Loved it.

There was one period of play towards the end of the first half when Wigan put in a massive defensive effort lead by Mcilorum that had half the East stand standing up applauding when it ended with that smash on Dobbo.

Shame we took Mcilorum off straight after that????

It's funny how McIlorum was being written off in some parts only a month or so ago and look at him now!

Outstanding last night and for the past 4 games.

His defence really is something special and he himself could develope into a fine player.

Lets not get too carried away. He had a great first half and a great game defensively. When we were camped on their line though his distribuition let us down. Not the finished article yet.

He's got things to work on like i said in another thread but he has the base to build on.

At the moment I would rather see Tommy at 9 and Sam Tomkins in the team. We look a much better outfit when we set up this way.

Tommy will take on the line, Smith won't.
Sam will, still not sure about him doing 80 mins as good as he is!

So would you drop Riddell or Smith?

I think I'd drop Riddell, I just don't see what he adds to the team! Is he a leader or does he just set the team into a rhythm?

Smith however can create tries, and moves people around the field.

That would give us:

6. Smith
7. Sam
9. Mcilorum (to help us get ontop forwards wise early on, let him rattle some bones)
14. Tommy (can come on at the end of a half when people are tiring and beat people)

Riddell has to earn his jersey. I would start Mcillorum and bring Tomkins off the bench and put Tommy at 9. Shove Riddell in the reserves for a few weeks and let him work his way into the team.

Smith was improving game by game up until the Saints game but seems to have sloped off the last few weeks.

i too would keep the same team that beat saints and trinity with sam on the bench and macca starting.
great pace, and lots of options.
the only reason i would change this team would be for wet weather games, when we need to change things around cos at the moment we at sheeeeeeeeeitttttttt
