Anyone notice the story appearing from various sources about Hull FC spitting the dummy and banning BBC Radio Humberside and the local "Look North" news programme from accessing the players, coach and staff at the club because they apparently dared to criticise them. They claim they used "unprofessional and unacceptable reporting".
Pretty poor effort I think. Rugby League needs all the media support it can get and we should be thankful for the service our club gets over here from BBC Radio Manchester who generally offer full match commentary on all our games as well as it's 2 hour show on Thursday Nights.
Of course there is a commercial alternative in Hull (KCFM) and BBC Radio Humberside will still contractually be able to offer commentaries but I'd be pretty disappointed if our club ever took the same kind of action with local radio here.
Some suggest the real reason is the club never forgave BBC Humberside for breaking the news of Paul Cooke's move to Rovers in 2007.

I thought that, but some of the comments are a bit out of order really. Telling people that they can't trust Hull FC's own media becuase it's biast?
A little harsh, but then on the other side, theres the lack of coverage of RL anyway. I read this in the League Express, I love how at the bottom it says "However BBC radio humberside will continue to cover the matches"
Obviously it's due to the BBC contract, but still...DOH!

HullFC must have the worst management in all of RL.
They are awful!
BBC Radio Humberside have been out of favour as has been said since they broke the Paul Cooke story. Every word reported was of course true.
This CEO bloke James Rule, I did hear on BBC Radio of course, that he's possibly the prospective son in law of the Hetheringtons.
BBC Radio Manchester are brilliant for Wigan RL covering all games home and away.
BBC Radio Merseyside cover all home and away games for Warrington, Widnes and Saints. They have the Thursday RL show from 7.05pm and the Monday Review programme from 8.30pm for half an hour.
There are cuts all through the BBC at present, and sports too, yet around here our local clubs are getting very good coverage.

| Whilst on the subject of the BBC I notice commentator Dave Woods has apologised on their official message board for describing Saints drawing of Gateshead in the cup as a "a bye for St Helens".
Gateshead's hierarchy were not happy about that.  |

I agree with the sentement of the post Bilko.
All clubs need all the help they can get, reading the Hull site, they are sick of there board and their CEO is about to become an in law of the Hetheringtons I believe, hardly an appointment that screams professionalism.
Its a shame, because they aren't a bad team, you could liken their off field situation to us pre IL.

So both KC stadium teams in link up with radio station shocker, I see no reason they couldn't do a deal without needing to blow up at the BBC.

I saw you write this somewhere else before but it's not correct. One of my closest friends is very good friends with Polly Hetherington so I asked her about this and she told me is wasn't true. Unless, of course, secret fairs are being conducted that my friend doesn't know about....  Do they really speculate about this kind of thing on the BBC? Seems a bit gossipy for them. |

| if hull have an issue with the BBC then good luck to em for not being dictated to.
half the premier league managers have issues with the BBC and refuse to be interviewed on match of the day........fergie, allerdyce, redknapp, etc.
others have issues with sky and refuse to appear on there.
good luck to anyone who sticks up for thier selves against these TV companies who think they can put out anything they like about people/clubs and are immune from criticism.

Agreed - there's also the excellent way in which both Manchester & Merseyside tend to cross over and cover all the clubs in the local area. We certainly do get good coverage in the North West from the BBC particularly from BBC Radio Manchester. Unfortunately the Beeb don't stream radio to abroad otherwise i'd be tuning in every Sunday for the coverage and phone in (always worth a giggle). |
