| Bit of a headache for Noble this weekend. Does he bring back Ainscough? Will Riddell be fit? If so who misses out then? Will Hansen be brought back?
If everyone is fit i'd go with the same team that beat Saints, dont try and fix what aint broke & all that, we've won 3 games on the bounce now and we need to carry on get some consistency going because we've shown this weekend that on our day we can beat anyone. From watching all 7 games this weekend we performed the best by far IMO.
Shame on Ainscough though, but im sure we will see a lot more of him this season.
Phelps
Roberts Gleeson Carmont Richards
Smith Tommy
Fielden McIlorum Coley
Hock Bailey
Lockers
Joel Sam Feka Prescott

I agree. must admit i was furious when i saw Shaun was not in the team and really thought that he should have played outside of Gleeson.
However
Nobbys selection proved correct and i admit that myself (along with many others) were wrong in doubting him.
i still think that roberts is improving gradualy however i would like to see Shaun have a go on the right wing. That for me is the only selection headache that we have for Saturday.
Micky was class against one of the best Hookers the game has seen on Saturday. His aggresion early doors set the tempo for the rest of the game. he should start if piggy is out. if piggy is back then i dont have a clue on who i would pick?

I think for the time being Roberts needs to stay in for Gleesons benefit. Gleeson will settle into the team alot faster if he has the same winger for a while. Once Gleeson has got fully settled with the team it shouldnt matter who plays outside him but till then its probably best that he gets a more experienced partner outside him who will make fewer mistakes at this time.

Same here but i think we should give Riddell some more time to get fit cause aparently hes had alot of minor injuries this year so we need him for the games coming up.
Macca did a great job vs Saints hopefully he can play as good and we wont miss the pig.
As for Ainscough his chance will come when theres a injury shame for him.

Good point. it would probably mean that the only place we could play Shaun is outside carmont, thing with this is means that we would have to drop Pat and he does not deserved to be dropped.
Phelps should keep his full back spot because (dare i say it!) he offers a lot more than pat does in this position with him joining the line and making great support plays.
i must admit though, it is nice to see players really having to fight for there position, just look at the improvment in both Smiths and Coleys game.

| Same team as 'Magic' minus Fielden, who I would swap for any of the yound lads waiting in the wings with a bit of heart.
If not, I will happily step in, as I too can run into a brick wall making no yards and hit the deck!
Ih he'sjust on to tackle (which in fairness he does) then ANYONE who can tackle from any position.
Ironically, I thought he had the best game for a while against Saints...and it still was MILES behind Coley.

You must have been watching a different game to me. Fielden was on top of the saints pack (including the Man of Steel) from the word go. He made more yards going forward than I have seen from him in a long, long time, constantly breaking the tackle and on a few occasions getting a good offload away. Don’t get me wrong he is not hitting the heights he did a Bradford) but I have not seen a prop like that since (including Graham).
All of our success on Saturday came off the back of an excellent start by Him, Coley and Mickey Mac getting right in saints faces. This cannot be underestimated. Coley was excellent on Sat but to say Stu was miles behind him is (IMO) an incorrect statement.

Correct our forwards took hold of the game from the first set of six, it was brilliant to see. There was one set of six when Fielden took in 3 drives.

I personally think it might just mean Ainscough misses 3/4 weeks. Making him eager to get back in the team just as the end of the season is coming round, should be good to have a passionate young winger scoring for fun at the right end of the season and maybe into the playoffs.

I think you could be right, one thing i will say is that Ainscough has never suffered from a lack of enthusiasm, tbh it is his greatest asset.
I would not like to say who shold get the left side spot. tough, tough decision for noble

Depends if he is back of holiday, a week in Ibiza mid season. I wonder if he could find a bar to watch the MM games in?

| I would put Pat to full-back, bring in Ainscough, rest Feka and bring in Hansen. I know no-one will agree, except my mate, Peter.

| Based on form Mark Riddell should not be played next week. Michael McIlorum and Thomas Leuluai both had brilliant games last week and neither deserve to be dropped after their performances. Mark Riddell should have to earn him shirt just like everyone else.
Joel Tomkins had a very good game as well. Gareth Hock was as good as ever and Phil Bailey was decent in patches as well. I think Harrison Hansen too should force his way back in the side rather that just a straight walk in.
The whole Ainscough debate will continue to go on. If any of our back line need resting/a niggling injury etc then I would bring Ainscough back in. Pat Richards is such a key player to the side he wont be dropped. I would say Cameron Phelps/Amos Roberts are the ones to be careful.
Hopefully for me we go with the same team next week.

| Personally I think Wigan have to be very careful here. We have Pat for 3 years and Amos for 4. Do you think Aincough going to wait about for 3 years for a starting spot....no chance.
No matter who you are and how much you take home in your pay packet you just cannot simply keep out a guy whos the leagues top try scorer and scored 4 tries in his last previous appearence for very long...
I fear we will see very little of Ainscough between now and the end of the season and if he does play but does not do anything special he will be made a scapegoat and not be seen again.

But we haven't got Phelps for that long and, personally, I think 1 of either Pat or Roberts will be our long term full back

Phelps is looking better than both Amos and Pat at Full back at the moment and if he continues to improve or at least maintain his current form he will be offered a new deal.
What happens then?

I cant help thinking Roberts might move on, luckily for both parties is he's a good player who would probably get a deal quick if he was back on the market
