| Why not? He's a winner and a wiganer and would probably take it. Why not give him a go until the end of the season?

Just the loyalty and passion that he demonstarted as a player would be a huge improvement. Everyone has to start somewhere and he's ONE OF OUR OWN.

| Thought you were on about Liam at first. The issue isn't whether we would want Farrell, it's whether he needs us, and I don't think he does.

| Faz would no doubt be a short term cure and would probably see us fly up the table.
He would without doubt command the respect of the dressing room much in the same way as Fittler at the Roosters, but i am sure he would be aware of the long term issues and possibility of entering the game unprepared.
I agree with Grimmy at the moment we need him more than he needs us.

| Hang on, the whole football world laughs at Newcastle for taking on 'one of their own' thinking it would solve all their problems. Same thing is in danger of happening here.
If we need to change coach, we need proper interviews, look at whose got the best approach and try to do things with a level head....for a change.

Faz is very lucky to get a coaching role at Sarries. It's on the back of the club's passion to keep Owen, otherwise he'd be disrespected like the rest of their squad has.
That said, he'llbe stupid to leave.

Personality is the key to coaching, if you can get the people to believe in you and buy into your vision that is half the battle won.
Coaching is not a science its a art form as well as a science, you can be the most knowledgable person in the world but if the players do not believe it or buy into it you are ice skating up hill from the start.

But is unproven in RL.
I agree though that he would have the man-management skills and certainly would pick up on RL very quickly.
I believe that he still often talks with Wayne Bennett.

He maybe unproven as a coach in rugby league but he is not unproven as a coach.
He is far more proven as a coach than BN and has a background that points towards him being a success.
Not every job in RL may be right for him straight off the bat, but I think the Wigan job is one he could tackle as a proven coach and be confident we would see a significant improvement.

| Maybe having Faz who would be bigger than any of the current players would cut out the politics that seem to wreck us?
We need someone who tells the players what they have to do and not stand any crap off them.

| I don't know why we persist in talking about Farrell when discussing possible new coaches.
The last thing we need now is someone else who 'fancies having a go at it'. Surely we've seen from examples all around us that just having passion for a club isn't enough. Granted, that's better than having no passion - which seems to be one of the key problems with Noble. But Macnamara has been crap at Bradford, Cullen was woefully crap at Warrington. Loving the club just wasn't enough in any of those cases.
Look at the difference with Brown at Huddersfield. With Morgan at Hull KR. With Potter at Saints.
A experienced Aussie must be the way to go.
Bring Farrell in as his assistant, by all means - but successful coaching is far too complex a business to be entrusted to someone who's only credentials are that he once played well for the club and still loves it.
Shaun Edwards would be all that, and he'd combine it with high-level coaching skills. But Shaun is simply not available at present.
We must look to the NRL. We simply must. They're streets ahead of us, as even their 'second-rate' coaches prove time and time again.
