Mecca are doing it so as not to affect their business in any town that they have an Outlet.
P&O Ferries have started doing the same since they became Hulls main sponsor.

It's clear that as well as sponsoring Wigan, they are sponsoring SL in general, as they have been seen on boards at every TV game so far. As somebody mentioned this is like P&O who do the same.
Their strategy has clearly been to target the RL market, with their lead sponsorship of Wigan, and splashing cash at the competition in general too.
