He did for Huddersfield and was less than good, he even came out of retirement while coach and his first involvement was to give away a penalty as soon as he took the field .

'Schoey' was a fair owld player in his time.

I remember queuing up at Headingley when we were playing Leeds in the 1980's.

It was a Saturday. The match was on BBC .

There was a big crowd, almost 20,000.

I was with my Dad.

To our right, in front of the steel gates, Schofield was signing autographs.

He was signing for so long, the security had to almost physically drag him in to get changed as 'kick off' time was nearing, they told him numerous times.

By contrast, at that time, Ellery Hanley would sign no supporters autograph books.

He played many times for GB.


The guy has earned his right to speak !

His problem is that he played during the time of the great Wigan team and therefore won nowt and is bitter about it.

Scott Gibbs wasn't even that bad.

Like most Union players it took him a while to adjust but he was a pretty decent centre who was better than a lot in todays super league.

Schofield is simply a loser, and a bit of a wierdo.

I have also seen Schofield behave Ludicrously in the most sensitive of situations 3 or 4 times.
The bloke is an idiot and within the profession he is ridiculed.

I am getting sick of this silly yorkie with a massive chip on his shoulder. Does he ever have a good word to say about anyone. I remember last year when Penny at Warrington had a few shockers and some of the comments in Scofields column were purely visceral and nasty. I don’t care how good a player he was.
For some reason I always think of scofield as the RL equivalent of Alan shearer, i.e. fantastic player who won flip all. I can’t think of anyone in our game with a bigger chip on his shoulder. I know he says that he “tells it like it is” but he has lost so much credibility with these constant outbursts that he has become a laughing stock that RL journo’s use him purely for sound bites.

Remember when he put his name in the frame for the GB job last year!!! Ha ha. Where did he get that idea from?? Need to shut his trap.

Some quality in that list. I felt really sorry for Holmes because if it wasn't for an horrendous run of injuries I beleive he would have done some good things in RL.
Shame about Schofield he just seems to teeter between daft and outright stupid in his ramblings, all designed to be headline grabbers in a sort of Stevo-esque way, when if fact he's a bit of a laughing stock.

He gets paid to talk crap and cause conterversy to try n sell more copies of the magazine/paper.
