Overall i think there have been a lot of good ideas written on here and i would definately get involved.

Where do you sit?

OK, the club have been in touch & think the idea of a section for flags, banners, scarves, singing etc is great one. I've arranged to meet with the key movers & shakers (Marketing Manager, Stadium Manager etc).

Some ideas already raised by others include - location (South East corner??), free scarves, are flags on large flag poles allowed, storage & access to flags and banners on matchday..

Any other ideas ?

Four large flags being waved at the bottom as the Loyal 18 flag is making it's way up the south stand would look class. They would be allowed but would just need to be 'dipped' and made fire proof.

Just ask the question if flares will be allowed.

Be sure to drive home how important the impact large flags on poles will have visually.

And are we talking South of the Boston stand or East of the South stand?

Strict "no drum" policy should be enforced. Noise can be made without a drum beat drowning out every song. Also, we dont want the area to be full of little chavs, not sure how this could be avoided, one way could be to have the area in the East stand rather than the South.

That was the section first mentioned.

Great attitude to have and the reason why the JJB is like a morgue on most match days.

What of it? I go to watch the game first and foremost.

I am sure you will sing extra loud to compensate for me.

Surely that's one of the reasons for an initiative like this - so that the singers can have a place to do what they want to do and create more of an atmosphere together whilst the people who don't want to don't have to associate with such riff raff.

i had a look at getting a flag to incorporate the ultras and "forza wigan" is 60 quid on red background with white writing. had a word with a few of the people who i go to the game with and they seem up for it.

Make sure it's a "standing allowed/encouraged area," last thing I want is to be told to sit down while i'm bouncing to Dale Cavese or to take a massive flag only for some god-botherer sat behind me whinging about how "we didn't need flags in my day" etc.

This could be one of the main stumbling blocks of the idea. Standing in large numbers is really frowned upon due to "safety issues". Obviously to generate a decent atmosphere people will want to stand, the club could be quick to call time on this idea if it becomes an issue.

I've already checked this one and they are illegal in British stadia, so provided you don't mind ejection from the ground, arrest, probable fine and possible ban they're ok.

If you're talking flares I guessed that would be the case, just joking anyway.

There was a flare at the last FC United game of last season. As far as i know the fella didnt get kicked out; however i do know they are illegal in all stadia in this country.

I wasn't, though. That's why I checked.

South East corner definately, its the perfect place, there's lots of room, its away from the little scallies and you wont need to be in at 6.30 to stand'sit together. All in all its a fantastic idea and I will most definately be getting a flag on barmy flags for next season.

Don't you think it would be better to sort it in an area where seats can be reserved? As soon as the scallies see whats going on i dont think it would take em long to invade, maybe the club could sort a reserved section within the south stand although there could be difficulties involved in this.

In terms of flags, i'm sure we could get a few people chippin in and get a few made. Ive got ideas of a few that i wouldnt mind getting done.

Thing is though, you want to encourage others to join in but don't want the scallies involved. Impossible to judge people & turn them away. I honestly think that the 'chavs' for want of a better word will want to retain their position in the middle of the South Stand. If the drum thing can be controlled in a designated part of the ground then most chavs won't want to be separated from a drum. They'd rather lose a leg.

In terms of flags, if you have any ideas, put them up here. If you can't do the artwork, I'm sure someone will help out if you just put the idea up. Rolf Zaugg helped me design the Boston flag. A few people have PM'd me about chippin in for flags. If you can get a quote on a flag let us know and we'll see what reaction there is.

I think that the south end of the Boston stand would be best, so it would be a reserved section but there may be a problem with any existing season ticket holders.
