I agree with your assessment re Noble and the low risk option, and perhaps it is true. I also agree (cant remember where you said it) about Roberts potentially being looked to as the fullback once he gets used to the SL / our team etc. To me he is a much better option long term than Richards at fb, I personally don't see why so many love Richards at fb.

I again though cant agree with wanting us to get beat to see Noble gone, he will be here till year end imo, if we were going to make a change, we should have done it in time to have a big difference on the cup game, the fact we havent suggests he is staying.

The kid loves playing, he's playing well and he's learning all the time. So why would you drop him? To learn? Learn what, how to play well and get dropped anyway.

If you want him to learn, coach the guy, it's what you get paid for you feckin prat.

For me, a big issue in Noble's decision to leave him out is that many fans are disillusioned with it. I can see the logic in going for experience, however it's a very bold move to drop the league's top try scorer. Phelps' performance in recent weeks has probably caused the issue to come to a head earlier than it may have, as he's impressed at full back since being played there. Leaving him there means he has to drop Ainscough or Richards, and would have faced some sort of backlash for doing either.

For me though, it's the wrong call.

Probably a lot to do with when we had mathers.

Phelps is best of an average bunch of players who can deputise at FB. his performances are not fantastic but adequate. How much for a Billy slater? I'll dream on. I'd be playing Ainscough before Roberts though.
