Top spot has gone for us realistically. If we were in better form I'd be fully advocating resting players now ready for the semis but 2 wins from the last 7 games says we desperately need to find some form with a settled team.

It's the same drill everytime nowadays. He gets a one week injury which turns in to a five or six weeks injury. I've been his biggest supporter on these boards over a number of years but the time has come for him to call it a day I'm afraid. He isn't contributing much when he's on the field nowadays and in a salary cap era we need reliable players especially if they're on very good money.

A full time place on the coaching staff should be his reward for his years of top service starting from next season.

How much of his salary is on the cap these days? Are we hiding some of it as he's also a "coach"? If not much of it counts I'd give him one more year and if he can't play 20 games then he should retire. I think he's contracted until next year anyway.

If he is registered as a player, then all of his salary should count on the Cap. That said, if he has been there for more than 10 years then the first £50k of his salary is exempt from the cap.

I think we might pinch a win at Hull but a win the following week is asking a lot.
I'm banking on Hull not being back at their best and Wigan putting so much into the game that they can't be beaten, rather like Widnes against us.
I hope we don't get any suspensions after tomorrow, but it will be that sort of game don't you think.

Every game I hope for improvement, and nearly every game it's the same crap. Dropped ball, when we do keep hold you could read it with your eyes closed. Wane is deluded if he thinks it's just a matter of holding the ball and better timing. We just don't have a clue at all. We are the most boring, predictable and clueless attacking team in SL. I'm sick of watching it, I'm even more sick of moaning about it.

It's so frustrating, that try from George proves what he can do wth some space to work with but they don't create any. There is no movement or dummy runs in the middle, the whole attack is laboured and easy to read.

Just turned it off after Tierney's fook up to gift them a 40/20.

Every week is like the first game of the season, no links, no fluency, no chemistry at all. It's like 13 random players thrown together with no leaders.

Hope this gives us enough momentum and confidence to win at Wire but skill levels are still way off and if we defend like we did in the first half Wire will rack up a score that we can't steal another win from!

A really determined effort in the second half, though, if still alarmingly lacking in polish. Determined defences are *still* pushing us over the touch-line. Can we not learn? Some great efforts in defence from Bateman and Tautai, and Gelling was very good too. Sam looks convincing in the air, but can he ever beat a man again?

[edit And as Wigg'n points out, if Hull had taken their chances in the first half they could have put us to bed before the interval.

And despite their loss, I'd still swap Houghton, Sneyd and Shaul for their Wigan counterparts in a heartbeat.

Hull really aren't that good in my opinion, if you keep at them and don't fall away they face after 60 minutes, that showed and we did great to get a comeback from that, the attack isn't great and playing like that we'll win zilch, but Hull won't win anything if anyone puts pressure on them like we did, the LLS and GF are there for Wire to sweep quite easy this year

I'm struggling to know what to type anymore.The season has been like groundhog day! We're so brave, we soak up mountains of pressure and then seem to play like a proper Wigan team for the last 15 minutes. They need to find the key to unlocking that momentum from minute one. I can't knock their attitude one bit tonight. Stevo bagged some of the player for shrirking their defensive responsibilities early on and I thought that was a disgraceful comment! The players weren't hitting their straps but their scramble was immense and the whole basis of the win was guts.

Looking at it from a technical point of view we need to get far more depth on our plays. The players look on top of each others heads and half of the time we're killing our own plays by getting in each others way.

We need to work on that and kick on. We refuse to go away in all games so if we can find 5% in attack we'll give ourselves a chance.

That game sums up our season, tons of effort, good defence, terrible with the ball. Individual efforts in attack saving us.

It certainly did and it's the reason why i want to throw everything behind the players. They're giving it everything and looking for the answers. We need those answers to arrive in the next month but who knows, stranger things have happened.
