The point is, his continued negativity is a problem. Many posters have left the site because of people like him. Almost every thread turns into a criticism of Wane.

I'll guarantee that once Wane goes some other individual will be in the firing line, be it a player or a staff member.

The damage on here was done long before DaveO's anti Waney comments, the over the top banning's of opposing fans and Wigan fans alike ruined this site

I am with Rogues on this though. People get fed up with reading wall-to-wall negativity, and they vote with their feet. It's not a matter of questioning people's right to express their view, or, indeed, of being "snowflakes". Nobody disputes that. But when every other thread is bent out of shape to include another slagging off of Shaun Wane and/or Lenegan, it does become very tiresome.

I have a sneaking suspicion that a few of our regular moaners, and Dave could easily be one of them, would just as quickly get rid of Ian Lenagan as they would Shaun Wane.

Waney had a chat with Rads and Lockers about a nickname for IL, after speaking to Faz, Benny, Clubby and Marshy they came up with Lenners.

I've clashed a few times with Dave over Lenners.

My opinion is he is the best chairman we have had in my lifetime of supporting the club.

A very clever businessman, very shrewd. Done loads for the club off the field as well.

A man with a long-term plan.

The only thing I can fault him for is giving Wane too much power which has resulted in resigning crocks and average players who left for the sake of their own egos.

I don't disagree with that, just pointing out that once SW has gone, the fire will be turned on IL - as it was after Nobby left (even though those same people had been calling for Nobby to go).

It's very frustrating when some of our fans are just malcontents who will always try to spin things into negatives, and I think that's what some of the other posters were saying.

Remeber AJ and RHJ (same people) even asked each other for their thoughts around 8 years ago, calling him a horrible little man when Nobby didn't get a new contract and slagging of Maguire..they soon got back under their rock.

They probably still post on here under new names but the abuse they gave IL (Lenners)

was totally out of order.

Lenners looks like he has come back to the front so i expect good things from now on.

Maguire was slagged off as soon as he was appointed.

After months of Nobby haters slagging off IL for not offering Nobby a new contract 'when he had no one else lined up' ... and then it later became apparent that IL had been negotiating lengthily with Maguire and would only have offered Nobby a new deal if those negotiations had fallen through, which paid off for us by the barrow-load.

The RHJ thing was comedy gold from a once regular poster who, for no reason at all, made a total fool of himself.

I think IL's record speaks for itself. He inherited a patchwork club from an owner in DW who combined empty promises with zero know-how and a chairman in ML who was outdated in his thinking and half the time didn't seem to want the job. The DW/ML model of Wigan RL had failed miserably, and almost saw us get relegated.

In contrast, IL's approach - so derided in certain corners (in a particularly big way on the other forum) - has won us the Championship three times, the Challenge Cup twice, the League Leaders' Shield twice and the World Club Challenge. The argument ends there, to be honest. I'm sure the man himself would admit that there are some things he's got wrong, but overall it's been great stuff.

I don't disagree about Shaun Wane. He had a good run with us, but things were definitely getting iffy, both in terms of performances and player behaviour. The new broom that is clearly now going through the club may cause some consternation, but it was sorely needed, and I'm very hopeful that more big things will follow.
