He makes a valid point though. Been complaint after complaint on here lately, although the ones about our performances and pack are valid.

| Quote ="Fantastic Mr Cat"We're just as bad as ever, which is down to having a crap coach who should have been sacked in 2019.
However on here we've got constant complaints re the following
Poor coaching from lam, and performances getting worse (despite getting to a gd and being unbeaten for most of this year)
Poor recruitment, running with a bunch of academy props and other forwards
Poor recruitment in the backs, having to play backrowers at centre, centres at wing (a centre that ppl didn't want recruiting) and then the talk of bringing back players.youve let go deemed to not being good enough.
Not being able to fit both hardaker and French in the side and hampering both (pre injury)
Complaints about key players not making it back from Australia till a couple of weeks before the season starting.
Complaints about retention of constantly injured players
Complaints about lenaghan not spending any money and radlinski's ability yo run a club.
These aren't my opinions, just what I've seen discussed on here. There's zero point being defensive to me, I'm not having a pop.'"
I'm not being defensive, I'm calling you out on your BS statement;

I'm in no way saying that things are all sunshine lollypops at the club, but to suggest GW is going to Wire because we've regressed so much in 18 months is laughable - especially when you factor in that you guys have been equally bad.

Yes I do actually, that doesn't mean I'm happy with where we are at tho. I'd take this side all day over the one in 2019. Same pack + Bateman and the props are 18 months better (but still aren't good enough mind). 19 went out with a whimper to Salford and this one got to the GF.
I don't think you are getting the point I'm trying to make though, or you're just being a troll.
Like I said, there's issues at the club but there's only one side in the league I'd say have their $h!t together more than we do and it isn't Wire. To suggest it's a reason why GW went to you is laughable.

So?
Good luck to the lad. He isn't obliged to sign for us. If i was in his shoes i would do exactly the same. Correct, and at least he has gone to a club that is challenging for honours also. Had he signed for a mid-table club on the same money (or as you see in football when someone moves to a City or a Chelsea where they will never get a game) then you could question his motives, but he has signed for a good club on a good deal.

I wouldn't and plenty of others wouldn't too. For every mercenary, there's people who've stayed at a single club and turned down big money moves.

It's up to the individual I guess. I'm just bored of the blanket/black and white approach of "it's more money so I'll go there" attitude and inability to see past it.
There's loads of examples of people sticking with the one club, due to loyalty etc. I'm just not sure why people seem to forget about them, or pretend like it doesn't happen?

| There are loads yes, but while he is probably on a better deal financially he is also at a club where he could quite easily win things. They've won more than we have since 2018.
We're making it sound like he has turned honours down at Wigan to sign for Leigh.

I'd say it's the opposite. That somehow Wire have morphed into Saints and have dominated the league for the last 3 years.

| I remember every Hull fan slating Tevita Vaikona when he left for Bradford , a year after Steve McNamara had. I was speaking to McNamara at a sportsman's dinner and what he said made perfect sense. RL is a short career, if you're lucky enough to avoid serious injury, and you're looking for another career pretty much from the age of 32 . Nobody can begrudge players maximising the wages they earn during this time, sentiment aside as they generally don't all become coaches and end up retraining for secular employment , outside of the game. All those fans, who speak from their heart disagree with that he said, those that speak with their heads understand, however much they do not like it. Pretty much summed it up for me .

Let's also go back to your original situation...
If I worked for Microsoft and had opportunity to go to Apple in California I'd have gone. I'd have also told my misses to stick it out, especially if I was getting huge recognition for what I was doing there.
IF I had to move back and had to pick between Microsoft and a new place, lets say Facebook, I'd look at the bigger picture and not just cash. Which organisation promotes from within? Is the CEO a company life man (Radders). What about the managers above me? Have they been headhunted from other places, or given opportunities based off the good work they've done with the business? Do I have a good existing relationship with the chairman? Did he help me pursue my dreams of moving to Apple?'"

Fans demand loyalty from players but want rid as soon as a player’s form drops. Loyalty should be a 2 way street but in sport it isn’t. Players are all too aware of this having seen colleagues or even themselves slated by fans of their team live or on social media.

| There may be a number of reasons why Wigan haven't been able to secure GW's signing. One of which may be that we had already agreed deals for our big signings next season (prop + half back) not yet announced. The Mole announced a few months ago that Wigan were in the market for a NRL prop.
I'm not talking about these rumoured signings that have come lately, if there's any truth in these they are likely to be 'top up signings'.
Lets not forget that GW leaving Canberra was a bolt out of the blue, was expected to stay in Aus until 2023 at least.
We'd lost George Burgess at the beginning of the season, Hastings announced he was leaving at the end of this season. Plans were already in place with agents two months ago.
We could simply be just a victim of timing.

I am inclined to agree here. I also believe we won’t know any different if he signs elsewhere and we’ll move on, as we have done already, without him. Plus each player has their worth. Perhaps we didn’t believe he was worth the money Wire were offering, which I can imagine was astronomical.
My only questions to your post would be; why wait to announce it? We knew we were in for a prop weeks ago and props come relatively cheaply - surely that isn’t making it so our budget is so stretched we can’t sign GW?
I can also agree with the point that our recruitment is worrying with 3 Championship quality players allegedly inbound to a club that wants to remain challenging for titles and cups. It’s concerning for me as with the coach we have, the players we have been linked with (if not signed) and the dreadful playing style we have currently; i just can’t believe we’ll be anything other than a 5th-8th place team sooner rather than later if this continues. Far from doom mongering I think some people may need to take their blinkers off and realise the gravity of it.
This isn’t because we haven’t signed GW, even securing his signature I’d still be concerned. Rather the general direction of the club that for my money just appears lost like a ship without a rudder. Some poor recruitment/retention decisions have and are being made which need to be rectified.

| Generally the club seem poor in managing the expectations of supporters to the point that it can affect the bottom line in the form of ticket sales. Our recruitment so far has not been impressive and the overall impression is that the club is in some form of managed decline. At the same time Warrington seem to have a blank cheque and the kind of pull that we just cannot manage. Once that decline sets in it takes something major to halt the cycle. Even when we can get decent players to sign they seem to be using us as a stepping stone. A couple of good signings will paper over the cracks but the club needs a rethink from the bottom up.
