There needs to be some sort of official ''loud section'' in the East & South stands so that those who are keen on making some noise can do so with safety of knowing those next to them will be doing too. That's the problem with having an all seater, reserved seating stadium.
It's amazing how our away followings are so vocal, enjoyable, loud and full of songs yet our home followings are almost silent...Even though the exacty same people are in attendance plus more!'"
Why did you move to the West Stand then?

Because he is a virgin.
Ive sat in all 4 stands this season and all are terrible. I suggest we put it to Mick Hogan to have a 'noisy' section next year in the east. Alternatively all just go in the south.
I went in the south for the salford cup game and I genuinely didnt see any idiots at the back

| THANKFULLY that problem seems to have disapeared.
I have sat in all four stands and without question there is more noise, singing, whatever you want to call it in the south.
But what is wrong with having a few different places where people enjoy themselves with a bit of noise.

After a few years of sitting in a stand with a stale atmosphere despite sitting amongst people who do their best, it becomes pointless sitting there when I can get seat in the opposite stand with a much better view.
We would have stayed in the East, but couldn't get the same amount of seats in the same position in the East stand.

| I really dont care about the atmosphere, i go to watch the rugby, not have a sing song.
That being said, good luck to those people who - if they manage to - set up the singing section.

| A couple of year ago Liverpool talked about setting up a section in the kop for folk who want to get singing etc started. I think they were going to call it the 'powerhouse'. Bit cheesy I know. Often thought that's what we need at the JJB though, in the East stand. Even if it's just 100-200 seats, to concentrate the 'singers'. The club would need to lead this but can't see it ever happening. You can't just turf out a whole section of season ticket holders just because they don't want to sing. Need to do something though; it's way too sporadic at the moment (partly due to a poor season i guess). I also think the drum is overused and can sometimes dampen the atmosphere building up, e.g. at the end when the players walk over to an ovation (sometimes), rather than allowing the applause to build up and maybe an impromptu chant, it's always the same... bang, bang, bang bang bang, bang bang bang bang, Wigan. Getting a bit predictable to me. Sorry if thats a bit whingy for a first post, i'm usually more positive!

| I'm all for it. The more noise the better, I've been on the Kop at Anfield for some tremendous nights including the first Liverpool/Chelsea Champions League semi and I've experienced nothing like it anywhere. It'd be nice to have a slice of that passion at Wigan.
I'm sick of half-hearted chants that do two or three choruses before they fade out and then ten minutes from the end (regardless of the score) 1/4 of the ground firing off home (cue the "I pay my money, I'll go when I want" type remarks.)
Cheesey or not lets get a section sorted for next season (all the best Ultras are organised ) where people can sing, shout, wave flags or whatever, we could even stay to the end of the game if we wanted to.
Give me this;
or this;
over this anyday.

They did set it up its called RTK Reclaim The Kop it involves the back blocks of the Kop 304 305 and 306 its really good in that area but if im honest it doesn't really carry through the whole stand.

| The club could do a lot to contribute on this: Flags, sectioning off areas, advertising on website..etc. Remember a good atmosphere can win matches now and again. No good having an '18th man' if it stays silent.

| Quote ="Jimmy Birts Lives On"No, nothing at all to do with hooliganism! This is about setting up an Ultras scene to promote a bit of colour, passion and noise on the terraces in a similar fashion to Ultras groups on the continent and those which are increasing in popularity over here (e.g. see Aberdeen’s Red Ultras website. Even Accrington Stanley have their Stanley Ultras!)
We'd be looking at the production of new flags and banners, ideally with striking & original designs. Homemade or professionally made flags & banners, it doesn’t matter. The more the better.
If anyone is interested, give me a PM or if anyone has any ideas (including ‘no chance, it’s a non-starter!) put your ideas on here.
I’ve already contacted the club to see if they are interested in having any input although I suspect that something like this would work better away from home for various reasons.
Forza Wigan !!
(Category C and below welcome
)'"
Like in our PM's, best of luck dude.
It's something I've been trying to champion at Saints for a couple of seasons, but has been falling on deaf ears. But we're making progress with the flags and stuff.
Be good if we could turn the derby into a real hotbed like it used to be, adding colours to it like in Europe.

| a fantastic idea- all for it happening, one good thing about going to watch in 2006 was that you where going to get a fantastic atmosphere where ever you sat at the game whereas these days people just cant be bothered- a good atmosphere rubs off on the players, i.e murrayfield this year, hull and bradford in the playoffs. the mustaches took off so why couldnt this

If we're talking bigger than your average "£5 for one, £10 for two" flag/poles bought from a dodgy Cockney at a service station somewhere in the Midlands on the way to Wembley, then I'd imagine it's a no no.

| Would be great if the club handed out just simple red and white striped flags. Not the little ones that they give kids at the jubilee but the large ones that they have at footie matches. About 2' x 3'. Of course, if someone in front of me waved it throughout the match, then I'd set fire to it.
